I just realized my first post didn't answer all questions :P

1. Where are you from? - Boise, ID USA
2. How did you stumble across the site? - The Brewing Network's Brew Strong
3. What you think of it so far? - Awesome! I'm excited to ask questions and try this out
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? - I've brewed for a couple of years, all grain, cooler MLT w/ converted keg as a brewpot. Batch sparging
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? - I work full time at my dayjob and have a homebrew related business on the side. Someday I'll retire and be able to brew all the time!

Welcome, new guys, BIAB has been kicking around in Australia now for three or four years but beers made with BIAB are now starting to win prizes at local club and State level, and hopefully at the National Competition this year
We use the American BJCP guidelines as well.

happy brewing

Great blog, interesting to see that hops grow well there, though looking at you guys wearing typical Australian National Dress that's understandable
Sorry to hear about your health issues, mate, sounds like you are well on the way to a long long drinking career yet to come ;)

Hi everyone NZbrewer's first post...

Yeah origional name, I know! ;)

I'm from the Manawatu in New Zealand, I found a link to this site while studying up on all-grain brewing on the NZ site realbeer.co.nz. Reviled and Pilgrim made it sound too good to be true.

I've been brewing since Feb this year, extract and recently have been experimenting with crystal/ chocolate and black patent malted grain. Mostly high gravity attempts at Belgians and dark ales.

Really impressed with the amount of info here. Last night I read the full discussion on thebrewingnetwork.com/ how to go from extract to AG for $10, and i'm converted.

So, anyway, I've managed to 'borrow' a 3 ring burner and a 50L keg, and I purchased 2 metres of voile. Engineer mate is building us a mill and plumber mate is taking care of the cooling coil. Too easy!

PS i'm 29 and work full time,(and then some) for a Wellington based communications company.

Big ups Biabrewer looking forward to get my biab on!

G'Day BIAB'ERS!!
1. Where are you from?
I'm from the riverland in South Australia, living in Adelaide. I still go back to brew with my dad in Renmark, and my mates in Adelaide.

2. How did you stumble across the site?
Active member of AHB. And I've decided that my set up can do BIAB, so I'm here to learn all about it.

3. What you think of it so far?
Nice site - simple, easy to navigate - nice colours!

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
I've brewed for the last year non-stop since building a kegging setup to keep those babies filled!
I currently brew partials and extracts, am keen as to go all grain.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I work full time in Adelaide.

Thanks for letting me introduce myself, I cant wait to get stuck in!

Hello all.
I'm in Effingham, Illinois, USA. Early retirement is allowing me to get back to brewing. I've done about 25 batches of kit and extract. I found the site while looking into BIAB and no chill cooling. Simpler is better and I'm looking forward to upping the quality of my result with what I learn here. Then maybe I can contribute a little. Very much appreciate all the upfront info on the genial nature of the discourse. Best Regards all!http://biabrewer.info/posting.php?mode=reply&f=5&t=119#

Hi all. I am a medical student in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. I have been brewing extract with specialty grains for about 2 years. I just discovered BIAB from basic brewing radio and I'm psyched to give it a try. I can't really invest in any heavy duty equipment at this point (+ I'm not very handy) and I'm interested in All Grain, so Brew in a Bag sounds like a perfect fit. In addition, I'm into small-batch brewing, so I can stick with my stove-top and smaller-end brew kettle for the time being while doing AG!.

I found a link to this site on the HomeBrewTalk Wiki. Looking forward to learning a lot from the site and brewing my first BIAB batch within the next month.

Hi all, I'm from Milan (Italy) and i'm an homebrewer from about one year. After 4 batches made by kit, i want start with the A + G BIAB technique . I'm sure to find useful tips that will help me to experiment in this methodology.

Bye
Marco

Hey everyone,

I'm a fairly new brewer from Los Angeles, CA. I'm an extract brewer but I was looking to move to All-Grain because the extract feels a little like cheating to me, even though the brew tastes good. I can't really justify buying a ton of new equipment so BIAB was found through some all grain searches.

I'm brewing once or twice a month and looking forward to my first BIAB in the next two weeks. I work but not too hard, I have to save the energy for brewing.

Hi there

I'm in the UK and have been brewing all-grain at home for about 2 years but I'm interested in brewing in smaller batches so that I can brew a wider variety of styles because 21lts of beer lasts me ages!

I also brew for a craft brewing club and smaller batches would make it easier to keep up with the brewing schedule.

I'm intrigued to find out if BIAB will produce beers as good as the traditional method (no offence!) particularly where clarity is concerned.
Sara.

Hi scarer and welcome aboard. :)

Rather than clutter up this thread, I've started another.

Hi team BIAB,

I was brewing BIAB until about 9 months ago but stopped due to work commitments. I am now keen to get back into it but have forgotten how to do it! I need the master guide!

1. Where are you from?
Cronulla, Sydney
2. How did you stumble across the site?
AHB
3. What you think of it so far?
Very informative!
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
Half a dozen BIAB batches. Have been away with study so have been brewing using cans (the shame!)
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
Im a university student. What is this concept "work"?

cheers
J

Too many interesting posts here to keep up with :). Thank you for taking the time here. A few brewers we let slip through as we can tell they are not bots but most of you actually write some really interesting stuff. Though you rarely get a reply, I think most existing BIABrewers here often check this thread and really enjoy it.

Thanks also to the older BIABrewers who are actively throwing in here. I particularly liked your post (two above) Ralph that started a new thread based on questions raised here. A great idea! Make sure you send scarer a PM so as scarer knows where to respond as I am sure that once people post here they forget this thread for a month or so!

So , as always, a warm welcome to the new brewers and many thanks to the old ones,
Pat
Are you a "Goodwill Brewer?" Pay forward and Buy Some BIPs ;)

I must say I love this thread and save it up for when I have spare time.

Top idea Ralph on starting new topics when new members ask a question. (I suppose we should also, if their question has been asked before, send them a PM directing them to a thread they might be interested in.)

My apologies for not commenting on more of your first posts but when you join here, you'll soon see I am a hopeless essay addict - I write an essay on a single question and then get too tired to write any more :).

Also liked shibolet's post. Maybe we should start a new thread on, "Who is the world's southern and norhern-most BIABrewer?"

Might do that now :),
PP
