What's looking good on Amazon? (Draft thread.)

Post #1 made 12 years ago
The, "What's looking good on Amazon?" thread allows you several easy opportunities to support BIABrewer and/or the members who give you the most value here.

Before we explain these options in full, could a member here who intends to buy something through Amazon today, please click on the banner that now appears at the top of BIABrewer.info and then order that item?

Once you have done this, can you please advise what you bought? Once we know that the link is working, we will edit this thread, give you credit and explain more on how you can use the Amazon link to support the site generally or a member in particularly.

Great purchases there Mad-Scientist and thank you very much for providing a test. Nothing has appeared so far in our reports but apparently it can take a few days which makes it a little harder to check that we have things set up correctly.

Yeasty, the current banner should be appearing at the very top of the site, above the BIABrewer.info man. Please let us know if you cannot see it. Kindle purchases are included and would be an excellent way of regularly contributing.

If anyone makes a purchase in the next day or two, letting us know here will certainly help us check we have things set up correctly.

Many thanks,
Pat

Pat,

You might as well leave the Cheesestradamus banner stay on the bottom of the forum. The Packer pre-season starts for the 2013 season August 9th. I am in the process of tweaking the site now and the site is already open for the first pre-season game. I will use the pre-season games for testing. I will also use the pre-season scores as a tie breaker if I need them so I encourage you to score well and often! The prize is waiting for a new owner!

nope :nup: no banner, using firefox

Quick pole of Mods/enthusiasts as to Yes/No to a banner + search engine used. I'll fire up explorer and look again.

Note: Off on hols for a week tomos, will try to check in if I get the chance. Although I'm hoping to be distracted by some pool side wildlife. :yum:

The orders have now appeared thank you very much Mad_Scientist. Many thanks also to the bamboo buyer :salute:.

Bob, your instructions on the Cheesetradamus banner came about 24 hours too late. Simon removed it as the Amazon banner went up. I would start a new thread for next season's Cheese and start getting people to put their names down now. Maybe we can put up another banner later.

Now that we know the system works, we'll come up with more useful Amazon widgets rather than the big banner you currently see.

Thanks again,
Pat

Pat,

The cheese banner is not important. Money is! I will keep the thread going enough to bother people. Besides I am going to win it all anyway!

Thank you joshua and good man Bob :P,

I don't think the fifty cents a day advertising earn has been the motivation behind what is keeping the site going Bob . If Amazon doubles that, then I still don't think that will be the motivation .

I do think the Amazon widgets will be useful but don't expect them to appear overnight as we will only work on it when taking a break from the BIABacus etc.

As a matter of interest, the Industrial and Scientific part of Amazon is something I haven't noticed before that could be worth exploring for brewing items. Make sure you click on the banner before exploring it.

:)

A quick question about using this;
It sends you to Amazon dot com, and there are country specific differences between their sites i.e. Amazon dot co dot UK.
Basically the UK site had an item for sale that wasnt available on the global (US) site.

Is there any way of making the link country specific?

Mally

When I click the banner it takes me to .com amazon but it has an option to click a banner to redirect to .co.uk amazon. I'm assuming that the spondoolies still go to Biabrewer ?

Thanks for thinking of us Mad-Scientist :salute:. Yours and one other order are the only ones to come through since the last lot but when we do up some Amazon widgets and put them in a better place, this might work a bit better for everyone.

mally and Yeasty, I have tried to find an answer on the UK question but am still none the wiser. If anyone is able to do a UK purchase soon, it would be great to know if it does work.

Many thanks again,
Pat

Its been a few months since the last post here, so a bump wouldnt go amiss.
I bought a SS masher a couple of days ago from amazon UK by clicking the banner, then selecting the UK link.
So can you guys let me know if you get credited withiin the next few days?

Mally, thanks for bumping the thread and for placing an order. I've delayed replying here as it still hasn't appeared but I think that it often takes some time. I'm not sire why there is such a time delay.

Sales have been pretty slow with the only new ones since I last posted here being two knives. Thank you to whoever that was. When NME gets some more time I'll see if I can get him to put some widgets on the page and we'll see how that goes. Site structure still remains the priority atm though and we are having a bit of a mental block on one aspect of that. We'll get there though.

Thanks again,
Pat
