jdeiro,

I spent 35 years at a large telecommunications company! They drove me to drink! I never thanked them! So now I thank AT&T for driving me to drink! Thank you and thank you again! BIAB is easy fast and fun to do! If you do your research you should be a champion brewer in no time!

Hi my name is Alan,

1. Where are you from? Maryland,USA

2. How did you stumble across the site? Google search.
3. What you think of it so far? The site is amazing.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? My best friend and I started extract brewing about two years ago. I first learned about brew in a bag from a Basic Brewing podcast with James Spencer. Having a newly acquired decommissioned keg I was itching to try it out. We tried a small batch of 2 1/2 gallons and it is in primary now. Cream ale.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I am a fire alarm programmer and service tech.

Thanks for all the great advice and help in advance.

Howdie folks.

Got redirected from Jim's beer kit. Love my real ales and i love to make stuff. So i want to make my own beer.
Done a few kits now, made plenty of mead and fruit wines, cider and calvados. BIAB i am hoping will be a relative faff free way of making my own fine ale.

Hi all, Im Chris 23 UK.

I have been brewing extracts and kits for about 6 months now and done a few batches with great success and i've been looking into doing BIAB as id like more control over the recipies i do and maybe have a go at formulating some of my own.

I own a 30L Burco electric kettle that i have added a dip tube to and soon will be looking at installing some kind of PID controller into it so that i can mash in a bag precisely.

I stumbled accross this forum whilst looking into BIAB and the BIABacus (still cant find the download link yet)

Hello everyone. I am from the Edmonton area in Alberta. I recently discovered that my current hobby which was collecting guns, skeet shooting, paying to join competitions, etc was just too bloody expensive. So my pals in the city whom have been brewing for a while invited me to a cookday and I was hooked instantly. A lot of reading, viewing them cook, and a few inexpensive trips to get geared up to brew in a bag and we were triple batching in no time. I purchased a kegerator, converted it to 2 taps and am in the process of building a wet bar to put it so I can move it out of my garage. Blackberry and peach extract wheat ales brewed so far and I love them. Can't wait to do more.

Hello everyone! I'm from London and I decided to get back into homebrew after seeing something on the telly. I say get back - I made a couple of awful kits back in the nineties...I've just brewed two kits, both Woodeford. So I'm hoping to go AG very soon, and with a tiny flat BIAB seems the way forward! I am hoping to pick up our old Swan urn next week...just not sure how big it is, and if it's going to be suitable. I'm really hoping it's a 26l job, but i can't remember. I found this site through thehomebrewforum - this site seems a great resource so far!
Do I work? I'm in the recording industry, so I'll let you answer that :-)

Welcome Chris-t-bassist,

All grain with BIAB is as simple as apple pie. (at least I think it is because I never made a apple pie?) Scalability is easy with BIAB and with BIABacus (our spreadsheet) you can do anything. Read the site and ask if you can't find your answers?

Hey everyone, how's it going?

I'm from Toronto, Canada. About a month and a half ago, I brewed my first beer using one of those Brooklyn Brew Shop kits (1 gallon, all-grain, batch-sparge). It was a lot of fun and turned out pretty well, but I found sparging to be a PITA- after sparging, boiling, and straining into the fermentor, I ended up with a LOT of sediment, so much so that some came through after racking. I had thought about using something like a turkey bag to hold my grains during the mash for an easier sparge and clean up, and then the internet told me about BIAB.

After searching the internet, I found 2 things: Buying ingredients (especially for a SMaSH) is about half the price of a kit, and it would be much easier for me to try BIAB - I can use all the equipment I already have (plus a bag), but I don't have to worry about sparging or dealing with unstrained grain floating around in my wort.

I've been spending the last little while since my first brew reading up on the internet and scoping out homebrew shops, and ultimately planning a SMaSH recipe. I'll hopefully be brewing my first BIAB in the next week, with the help of this site.

My equipment right now only allows me to make 1 gallon batches, but I kinda like that because I get to try new things more often. If anyone has any tips for a new 1-gallon brewer, I'm all ears!

I live in a small town in NE Missouri, USA. I have brewed 4 beers, 3 extract brews that all turned out pretty darn good, and 1 BIAB which was yesterday. Hopefully it turns out good, all numbers were on with my recipe and I got fermentation at 10 hours. I am a high school teacher and baseball coach. I found the site through Google and have visited several times before, but really enjoyed the BIAB process yesterday so thought I'd join to get all the info I can. Looking forward to meeting everyone and dipping into your knowledge!!!!

1. Where are you from? => Belgium
2. How did you stumble across the site? => looking for info on BIAB (after a successful first brew with a borrowed full installation)
3. What you think of it so far? => a wealth of information! I keep reading...
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? => I've only brewed one 50l batch with a full installation (2 brew kettles, a lautertun, 2 fermenting/lagering vessels). I'd like to start with BIAB because it seems simpler and probably works quite as well...
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? => I've got a fulltime job (SAP consultant) and would like to invest a little of my precious spare time into brewing great beer :)

JK5856, dryhte,

Welcome to the brewing revolution! We are here to help you if you need it? You only have to learn BIAB. The other method, the traditional three vessel brewing is history. All the cost and bother is not needed! Good luck!

Hello everyone!

1. Where are you from? Scotland.
2. How did you stumble across the site? Google
3. What you think of it so far? It is excellent
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? I have brewed alcoholic ginger beer by fermenting in the bottle a few times - it worked well but the method wasn't very scientific. I want to move on to beer and BIAB seems like the easiest and most cost effective way of doing so.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I am an engineer in the semiconductor industry.

Hey guys,

My name is Ben, been brewing for about 8 years now. I am mostly an AG brewer, 10G batches and brew roughly every two weeks. I am looking to move to BIAB due to the simplicity and possible time savings. Just looking to start gaining more knowledge at this time.

Cheers,
Ben
