Hi I'm David a school teacher from the southwest US. I have been brewing extracts for about 4 years. I started making some of my own recipies using bulk extract materials but I am wanting to try all grain methods to have more control in my brew. I can't afford the space for a big operation so I haven't progressed to more typical all grain brewing. I saw a biab article in zymurgy and decided to check it out. The site is very extensive. Over the summer holiday I hope to transition to some small batches and hone my craft. Thanks for the great site.

Welcome all,
LazyCatBrewing, mochigeorge, hbh4t.

BIAB is easy to do and inexpensive to start. The best thing about "Bye AB" is that the beer produced is the same (or better) than The old fashioned method. Less work and less time to boot!

Hello all,

I have been homebrewing with extract for a year now (with a little bit of steeping), and although happy with the taste, I want to look at improving head retention and body, and I'd also like to use unmalted wheat and oats for particular beer styles. So, in a month or two's time I'll be brewing in a bag! I'm researching, and I have a pot, a good thermometer and some fabric for a bag (practicing sewing on some trouser hems). Looking forward to it all :)

Hi All,

I found this forum via google. I've been brewing extract with some grain steeping for a while now, but want to make the jump to all grain. The BIAB is a compelling method to get into all grains so I'm preparing to do my first batch here in a few days.

I'm up in the North, in Ontario Canada. Love the fact that we are finally getting some decent influx of brew pubs and micro breweries, here in Ontario. However, I can't just sit on the sidelines and enjoy others hard work, I need to role up my sleeves and brew more of my own. I normally have too much on my plate with work, high tech, and a developing hobby farm too, so I want to maximize my time yet gain experience on all grain brewing.

The site looks great, and I hope to learn the ins and outs of BIAB.

Cheers

Welcome... gunza, Kahless, and Northwind!

I just cleaned up from brewing a simple ale. Finding new friends upon coming back to the PC is a nice greeting. Everything you need is on this site. If you can't find it? You didn't look hard enough! Please find a proper subject category and ask a pertinent question there. We are all here to help. BIABacus is a spreadsheet tailored towards BIAB. We are all working to make it the BIAB standard you can help complete it.

Hi everyone,
Bought a beer kit a few months back so I had a fermenter + barrel to make some nettle beer. With the basic kit also came a kit beer, so I thought I may as well make it. The results weren't that great but it did make me try extract brewing, with some decent results (summer ale & london prde so far). Now, just as everyone else here I assume, I'm interested in making the best beer/ale I possibly can at home. Fortunately came across biab, as all though I'm a sucker for a gadget and high spec set-up, I'm not sure I want to go the traditional all grain route. Been using a 15l pot for my extract brews but I have a burco buried in the garage somewhere which I'm thinking of using.
Anyway, I'm rambling now.

After having learnt so much from this site, I look forward to spending much time here.

Welcome Tom(Abel),

The Burco will work well for BIAB, and you can also use the 15L pot for MINI-BAIB batches,

Let us know how we can Help!!
