Blokes,
Firstly, great site.
I am almost at the point of conducting my first BIAB, I have a 50L CUB keg that has been converted into a pot. Currently having lid made and picking up ancillary items.
However, I am having a bit of trouble navigating software, I only have two MacBooks at home and Brewmate does not play on that (not without adding stuff well beyond my capabilities).
Just wondering if someone could recommend a recipe as a good starter that fits my equipment, I am def missing/not getting a key bit of info so I can confidently start.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers

DG give us an idea of what you like or what interests you. Generally people who get into homebrewing have an idea of what their brewing goals are. These will change as the journey continues, but if you can give us an inkling of which way you are leaning the guidance you receive will amaze you.
We have a lot of skilled and talented brews here and most will fall all over themselves to help.
Give us a short summary of your goals and sit back and wait for it.
Have fun!

Howdy,
Have you downloaded the BIABacus from the site?
Also just have a scroll through the recipes section and see what tickles your fancy.
What kind of beer would you like to brew? Do you have a favorite beer?

Thanks lads,
Ales are usually the go for me. Have been k&k brewer for about four years but have now constructed the pot to go BIAB and also will be kegging from now on.
I suppose my biggest issue is taking a recipe and putting it into the spreadsheet.
My keg is 50L.
Thanks again

Diz,
I am really computer challenged, and I am able to put a recipe into the Biabacus and make it work. Im guessing that you will be able to as well. You will need to know the internal diameter and height of you pot though. There are places on the spread sheet for that info.

"All I know is that the beer is good and people clamor for it. OK, it's free and that has something to do with it."

Update,
I am assuming that 'The Calculator' is Biabicus?
I have downloaded that and input the diameter of my pot (370mm).
Now I find an ale recipe from said forum and input details req into spreadsheet?
Getting there slowly.

Hi DizzyGillespie
The calculator is great, but it is not the "BIABacus"
See the forum here for that.
You can try the blank or the filled out Amarillo version & amend to suit your setup.

I spent lots of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I squandered
I've stopped drinking, but only when I'm asleep
I ONCE gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life

Cheers Mal,
Will use the recipe that is on there for a starter. Is the diameter and height of kettle all that is req?
That def looks more followable than the spreadsheet I had.

Just change the equipment profile in "B" to match your own, then your hop AA% in section "D" under the substitutions bit.( one of the times is 75 for some reason, just delete it if you want although it does reduce your hop bill a tad)DizzyGillespie wrote:Cheers Mal,

Check over section "W" as you may not wish to hold any water back and look at section "G" as you may not be using a hop sock.
You should then be good to go.
