[There's a possibility I might be stuck for time over the next few days so if I let Skink down, can someone else look after him? Hopefully I can get the ball rolling.]
Good question Skink

,
It's a fine line between getting greedy and causing yourself a lot of problems, especially on your first brew. Mini-BIAB is a pure BIAB method (full volume mashing requiring just a single vessel - easy and efficient.)
Maxi-BIAB can end up requiring three vessels and become very laborious for a bit more beer but the gain is not as much as everyone expects (less efficient usually in all sense of the word). Kettle size, whether you are BIAB'ing or three-vessel is actually always the most limiting factor.
Anyway, let's forget that for the moment and let's firstly look at what you want to brew. The recipe is the most important thing. In fact, until you have decided on a recipe, we won't be able to estimate and juggle your volumes accurately.
So, a few questions...
1. What sort of beer do you like? (Have you got a recipe in mind?)
2. What's the second biggest pot size you have after your 22L one? (It may be just your kitchen kettle).
Let's start with that.
If I'm not around, there's other guys here that, depending on your answers, might ask more questions or start giving you options.
