Glad to see you back again friend! Now you can return the neighbour's pot, go buy some proper equipment, and brew up some beer!

Hi Kostas

Glad to see your back, hope you get your new gear soon and put it to good use. Haven't been brewing much myself of late due to other stuff so if you like me you will raring to go.

As a matter of interest how much are the basics to buy over there, things like malt hops and yeast.

:salute:

Thanks guys for the welcome! Really do!

Well mate, it's pretty expensive, something like avg 1,5Euros=2USD per kg of grain and 3Euros=4+USD for 30gr of hops.
If you buy bigger quantities it's a bit better, but I got many friends that contribute for the ingredients and we all share the beer!

@lambert Hey Lambert!! :) I got an interview today...not a chance I think, they need senior software programmers and I can only be a junior...but they called me so...

:luck: mate. If they don't give you the job, they'll be losing a very clever brain.

Kostas not only makes beer and cheese but went wine-making last week :P. So, I reckon his new kettle needs to be large enough for him to stand in so once a year he can stomp grapes in it .

Kostas, you didn't by any chance get any pics of your wine-making adventure did you? Hope so!

Cheers from Crazy Oz Man ;)

Thanks guys but I still don't think I have a chance. They liked me but it's not like I have working experience so...
Unemployment is HUGE now days in Greece, so there is certainly someone with better qualifications...

I got some pics at the wine making, I'll try to upload some! Pretty amazing experience for anyone that hasn't been in one.
It's pretty traditional here in Greece still, you squeeze the grapes using your feet! You really do!

Connecting with people around the world makes you forget any stupid thing that's in your mind!!
Cheers everyone!

Bob's posts make my day Kostas

But so did your pics. Mind you, there are no pics of you .

I hear rumours that you are finally getting your brew rig together  :drink:. What are you going to brew first up?

Hey guys!
I hope everyone is amazing and mainly Patrick is not getting crazy
doing 1000 jobs at once :) It's been quite long and between some sad stuff and crazy stuff
that have been happening, I wanted to pay a visit while I got some internet!

About the equipment, I got Nik's electric urn, 56,7L, which works like a charm
and I had been brewing quite some batches, BIAB of course. In Patras I always had
almost 3-4 plastic buckets fermenting most of the time and even now there must be some
left at home, a bit forgotten sadly, but I think they can handle themselves.

I have already brewed like 20 batches this season, most of which were requests from friends
and I even sold some beer in a festival at Patras, with great success! The beers come
out amazing and the whole brewing process is million times easier and faster than
the way I did it in the old days, with a 6L pot and hop sacks...

Most of you must have heard a bit about the situation in Greece, which is pretty
awful. While me and most of my friends have got a degree and master in engineering
(p.e. electrical and computer), we are unemployed. So with a couple of friends we have
decided to try to find someone who wants to make a micro and try to go pro that way.
It's a very very long shot but we got in contact with a guy and there is a small
chance.

*Patrick, when I get back we'll skype when you find some time!

Nice to hear from you Kostass

I think you have got a perfect situation to explore the micro brewery scheme. Greece is on its arse so the only way is up, there is always a demand for good beer so go for it. I bet there is a lot of equipment going cheap in Greece at the moment with the economy being so poor.

Good luck,

Yeasty

Good luck Kostass, you can look at the economical sitauation as offering many oppotunities.
If this all come to fruition you will be outgrowing you urn quickly.

Maybe we should hold a BIABbrewer conference in Greece (once Kostass has monopolised the craft brewing market)!
We can buy his beers & kickstart their economy too.

If Bobbrews is up for it, you had better get started on the Black Bear IPA Kostass

Great to hear from you crazy Greek man ,

Received your email the other day thank you very much. I think that was the longest gap in communications we have ever had :o. Will look forward to a skype when you get back to Patras - want to hear more about these new plans.

Next time you get internet access, check out your Greek friend's thread here. He wants to brew 300 litre batches!

You take care ;),
