Good on you jr. If you have a strong magnifying glass, see if you can count the threads per cm. Be interesting to see what different porosities people are using. My bag is 40 threads per cm but my original bag was probably coarser as it drained a bit faster. (Gave it away before I thought of counting the threads :dunno:).

Hmmm... we have these curtains in our bedroom. My wife wants to redo the bedroom, but I didn't want to spend the money. Now, I can re-purpose them and not tell her... make it look like I want to do the bedroom for her... and come out like a hero :)

How do you know that your using a food grade curtain...

Maybe before you use it in your beer, cut off a section and boil it for an hour. Taste the water at the end to make sure that there is nothing awful leaching out :yum:

If the curtain says 100% polyester and has no dies or fire retardants it should be food grade. I just don't think they can get non-food grade 100% natural polyester

Just got back from Target today and found an 84" Voile Window Sheer by RE (Room Essentials) for $4.99. Oddly enough, the smaller 63" one was $9.99.

It looks like this one, but it's only $4.99 compared to $17.99 like this one.

Looking forward to testing it out on a Maxi-BIAB recipe in the next week or two.

Do people just use it as is (is it tough enough for a 10#+ grain bill), or do they double it up and sew the halves together to make it more tough?

I don't double it up, and I've done 26 lb grain bills. But my big bag does have reinforced lifting bands which pass through the bottom pole
