Hello all. I am just getting started with BIAB. I have some experience with extract brewing, but look forward to all grain and keeping it simple. No doubt that I will have questions along the way and hope to contribute to the forums.

I'm from Brunswick East in Melbourne and am just about to do my first BIAB brew this weekend.

I've previously just done kits and extracts doing partial mash and always into keg though this time I'm doing in BIAB style! Have been to a demo at Grain and Grape and have since then been working hard buying an urn, making my bag, building a fermenting fridge using an STC-1000 temp controller and getting enough bottles together for the first brew.

I work in restaurants as a waiter and also have my own sausage business and nothing goes better with sausages than beer right!

Heard about this site through AHB and need as much info as I can get. I'm trying to work out what software I should use as well. Torn between Beersmith, Beertool, or a couple of iPad options as well.

My first brew is going to be an American IPA, my favourite.

Look forward to sharing results and seeking advice along the way.

2. How did you stumble across the site?
Was watching videos of All-Grain brewing on Youtube, and came across BIAB. Never heard of it. Decided to do some research and it looks as if this will be my next step in brewing, and I may stay there

3. What you think of it so far?
The site seems good so far, only read the beginner pages. After this post, I'll be going through other posts.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
Yes. About 1 year. I'm currently on Extract brewing with some seeping.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I do work full time. And I do run a household (some times)

I'm from Norfolk, England, and this is my first post.

I'm a keen Extract brewer, and since New Years Day have brewed up a coffee and cranberry Porter, a simple 'stout', a black 'IPA', an attempt at lager, a wheat ale, and most recently out of the bottle a very pleasing Weizenbock.

BIAB is my next step, and I'm very interested to master the basics and get as much info as possible to get started with my first brew - hopefully this week. My stockpot is only 15 litres, so I'll be looking to do smaller batches than what appears to be the standard (ie. 20 litres or so), but I don't see that as a problem.

Any advice and info GREATLY apprecitaed. Cheers !

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm just looking for something that I can input all my data, including recipes and brews, so I have a record of everything I do. Would also be good for sharing with mates and forums if I ever need to troubleshoot a brew.

Any thoughts between Beersmith and Beertools?

Recently I discovered that BIAB method is most suitable method for my small kitchen and limited equipments. I find this site and forum very helpful.

I was wondering why I couldn't post replies or start any new subjects......

1. Where are you from? Chicago
2. How did you stumble across the site? Homebrew Talk member that wanted to identify more specifically with BIAB brewers like myself. Only have done 2 batches so far and they were also my first AG batches to date.
3. What you think of it so far? I love BIAB. Still figuring out a few things here and there.
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? I've been brewing for about a year now. Have done extract plus specialty grains until my last 2 batches where I went to AG with BIAB method. I do 5 gallon batches in a 15 gal keggle.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I work at a Technology Reseller, have been doing this for 5 years since graduating college. I currently rent an apartment but thankfully have a backyard so I can brew outside. Should be buying a house in a little over a year. That's when all the fun projects will start, when I can do construction to my home because I OWN it!!

I've been reading the info and forum posts for a couple of weeks and thought I would make my first post.

I'm from the East Midlands UK and have been wine making and brewing beer kits for a few months and want to make the move to all grain but don't want to spend a fortune on a full brewery! I'm in the process of putting together the equipment for BIAB and will probably start with a 33l pot heated with a gas burner. I'm a Real Ale fan and have plenty of beers that I want to clone.

I'm in my mid 40's, married with 2 teenage children.I run a print and mailing equipment company which is great for my interest in beer as it takes me all over the UK and sometimes further so I get to sample a lot of different beers.

As my knowledge increases I hope to become a useful participant on this forum.
