G'day
Mattress here, from Canberra.
I've got a BIAB set up using a 50 litre keg.
I have put down 2 brews so far, but haven't been able to try one yet. (still in the bottle conditioning)
Hopefully they will taste alright

Post #1956 made 14 years ago
Good Day Mattress, Welcome. hope your first batch is good. If your brews have conditioned for 3 weeks, you can tap one to check it's progress, if it's a bit harsh(green) Wait a week, try another! If after 6 weeks go by and nothing changes. Thats Pretty much the best it's going to be! I've found beer doesn't need much aging in the bottle. Good Luck, Tell us how thry finished.

You can make much better beer with All-Grain BIAB, than you can using Extract.

If you have questions, post them, and we can help.

Hi! I'm Eivind from Norway. Currently having great fun brewing allgrain with some friends with a Igloo-mash tun, 50 L pot and gass burner. I'm researching if it is possible for me to make mini batches on my own with minimal investments.

I would like to make small batches around 6 litres. The biggest pot I have is 7 litres, and I hope i can find a way to use this. Maybe its possible with MaxiBIAB and a second 3 litres pot ?

If someone has any experiences with a similar setup or links to a relevant post please let me know.

Good Day Eivind(Eivindrs), Welcome! Great to here your going to BIAB! Yes, you should be able to do a 1/4 brew.
The amount you want to make is 1/4 the size of a normal sized batch, and MAXI-BIAB process will work with it.
Almost everything in you recipe can be 1/4 of the amounts used in a normal size recipe(23L).
Look over our MAXI BAIB topic http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=352 GOOD LUCK

Hi, Mark from Brisbane here. I have restarted brewing 4 months ago after a break of 20 years. Put down 24 can brews in that time and played around with hop additions, steeping grains, and yeasts in the last 18 or so. Time to move on to BIAB. Got nearly all my gear to get started, so hopefully my first attempt will be next week.

Cheers,
Mark

Hey there. New brewer here. I live in the Detroit area. Got a Mr. Beer Kit for Christmas last year, made a palatable batch. One day stumbled on a great home brew / wine making store that also served its own small batch brews that was only 5 minuites from where I work, Maltydog Brewery and Supplies (michiganbrewer.com) Great people, has become my "zen" place. It is hanging out with homebrewers that is as fun as brewing. I have never met a brewer that was angry, or mean! At my first visit to the monthly home brewers club meeting I was introduced to the concept of BIAB. I had only made on Mr. Beer batch, and been reading books and a bit intimidated by whole grain. But I bought the ingredients to make a nice batch of Rye this weekend. Wish me luck!

Good Day MLB1615, Welcome to the Site! Your correct, most books make All -Grain look tough. Look over our site and see All-Grain is easy to do, many ways to make a batch easy.
Good Luck with you Rye beer, and hope it tastes GREAT.
Beware of the gummy stuff(beta glucans) and stir, stir, and stir some more. Also, Mashout at 168F, and the wort should be great!

Hi All, Bob Z from the Nation's Capital. I've been brewing extract for about 5 years (90 brews all up) starting with basic pilsners and moving to more complicated partial mash brews such as Chimay and Trappist clones. Decided to move to all grain and all the research points to BIAB as a simple way to brew good beer. Took delivery today of a stainless 50lire pot, and just need a few more things and we're away. looking forward to being a useful member of the site.

Cheers

Hi, I'm an all grain brewer from Atlanta, GA. Several years in now, I forget exactly how many but probably 3 or 4. I've had several issues with stuck sparges and wanted a better way. I ran across somebody saying "brew in a bag" and a quick Google search later, here I am. So I'm still in the research phase, no BIAB batches yet. I'm also extremely interested in going electric, but I'll probably do my first BIAB batch with my existing setup and then start testing out an electric setup after that. Its never a good thing to try out too many new things at once. :)

Good Day GelatinousSlime, Welcome to our site. Good to hear your thinking of BIAB as the way to brew. Simple(one kettle), easy(all Grains in a bag), and can be done gas or electric, and maybe on a stove(small Batches)
Check out our "Basics of BIAB" http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=194 and see if BIAB is for you. If you have questions, let us know.

Hi all,

Doug from Australia here. I've been doing BIABs on the stovetop for around 6 months now and I'm currently looking into an electric urn for larger batches.

I have a bag of crushed grain sitting next to me, which I'll be using tomorrow to brew a batch of DrSmurto's Landlord.

Cheers.

Hi all :)

I have been registered for a little while, but haven't got around to making a post until now because I was just reading stuff and trying to understand the process.

I have been brewing for just over a year now and have quite a few varying kits under my belt, aswell some kit adaptations with hops and grains and one extract brew.

On this coming Tuesday I plan to carry out my first BIAB brew using an 11L stockpot that I already own. Hopefully I will be able to have a go at making some all grain beer on a small scale, without spending out on any extra equipment at this time.

Wish me luck

Stefan

Hello BIAB-ers,

I'm a high school science teacher from Chicago. I have been brewing for 5+ years doing extract in various apartment kitchens, but have made many improvements to my equipment and am trying my first BIAB next weekend. So far, I have gotten some good info here and thought it might be good to join and input.
