Hi,

I am new to brewing and BIAB. Have been interested for a while but didn't think I had the space. Currently sipping from a kit brew, but want to experiment a bit more and was looking to try traditional all grain but due to expense and space required have come across BIAB and sounds good. In middle of making 70 litre stainless boiler running on gas.

I am based in Malvern, UK.

Good Day Gxs068, Welcome! BIAB is a single Vessel brewing process, If you are use a 70L and a large gas heater, you should probably be outside and have a lot of space. But BIAB can be made in 1 square meter, Or more if you stand there, and have a table to hold other small things. I hope your BIAB brew will be good, and if you have any questions or suggestions, Please post them. And GOOD LUCK with your first BREW!!

You should be able to pull off 19-38L batches quite easily with the 70L boiler :)

Its a great size for BIAB

Hi All
I have been an extract(read Coopers can) brewer for many years but now want to become a little more serious about brewing. In a haphazard way I have recently done a partial grain and an AG BIAB. Very happy with the results of my first BIAB and now waiting impatiently to see what the AG turns out like.
I have just acquired a 36L s/s stockpot to add to my 16.5L s/s stockpot. I would like to do 21L batches if possible.

My thinking had been along the lines of mashing in 2.75L of water per Kg and then a separate sparge in the balance of the boil volume. It seems from my reading of Mini BIAB (Thanks to Ralph) that this is not necessary and I can do it all in one pot (my 36L) with a full volume mash???

I must confess to being bit confused at the moment but sure as I read more I will learn from the wealth of knowledge and experience here.
Cheers

Juan

I just did a quick a check with an experimental calculator I'm working on

Assuming 7L total evaporation, you should be able to mash enough grain to get you up to 22L 1.052 OG End of Boil.

Which should give you about 21L

;)

Any higher and you'd need to use top-up water/sparge water... but my calculator doesn't support that yet ;)

Hello all,
I live in God's little acre down in Tasmania. I have been brewing extracts plus adjuncts for many, many years and have just plucked up the courage to invest in BIAB equipment and produce all grain beer . My first attempt is currently in the keg maturing.

This forum, from what I have seen, has a wealth of knowledge which will help me and others prefect the aged art of brewing good quality drinkable beer.

Hi All,

I am new to all grain brewing and thought I might start by using the BIAB method

I am from Franklin,Ohio,USA and have been extract brewing for several years.

Due to time and money I have stayed with extract brewing longer then most but now I am moving on.

I heard about BIAB from James Spencer at BasicBrewing.com

I hope to learn the most affective ways to BIAB from the people who invented it

Thanks in advance and lets all have fun brewing

Rob

Good Day Toga937, Welcome aborad. James was correct, All-Grain BIAB is the way to go. You'll need the least equipment to start, the process is simple, and takes less time than 3 vessel brewing. This way let's you spend more time with temperature control, or Ph testing, and less time moving wort and water.
Good Luck with your first BIAB, and let us know how it turns out!

Welcome Shifter and Toga937

BIAB is not just a way to brew beer it is a family of people who "brew on the edge". Always thinking and creating new ways to improve the process. Good beer, good people.
tap 1 Raspberry wine
tap 2 Bourbon Barrel Porter
tap 3 Czech Pilsner
tap 4 Triple IPA 11% ABV

Pipeline: Mulled Cider 10% ABV

Hi Team,

All geared up for my first BIAB in my tiny shoebox apartment in London next weekend. Have done some all grain before in a house where I had lots of space but working in such a cramped area requires a great solution and Brew in a Bag is just that I hope!

This site is a wonderful resource, keep up the good work guys!

Please post on how your doing, and ask any questions you have. We have the best BIAB people in the world here, and a few from the U.K.

Hey All,

I'm a new home brewer from Brooklyn, NY. I've done 2 partial mashes and ready to jump into small batch AG BIAB. I found this site from a link on homebrewtalk.com and am really psyched. The site looks great and I've already learned a ton from it. Look forward to learning from ya'll and helping others down the road.

Cheers!

Hi All, I'm based in Nottingham in the UK. Been brewing extract kits for about a year now, but looking to do some AG BIAB brewing. Found this site reading posts at Jim's beer kit http://jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/index.php.
Still researching a bit at the moment and trying to decide on a recipe to start with. Thought I'd sign up to take advantage of support and advice of more advanced brewers.

Looking forward to becoming part of the community.

Good Day Cabbage, Welcome Aboard! This may be a bit out of place, put a SingleMaltAndSingleHop(SMASH) is the easist beer to brew, Choose 1 malted grain and 1 hop, Check out the Calculator.. http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=189 and look over the master guide... http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=25 for the BIAB process.
Good Luck with your first BAIB brew, and let us know how you are doing, and Ask us if you have a questions.

Hey everyone. I've been extract brewing for a year and have one all grain batch under my belt which was by far the best beer that I've made yet. I did a no sparge mash and was really happy with how easy it was. I'd been designing a two kettle, direct fired, recirculating, no sparge system when I first read about BIAB on another forum. I like the fact that it's basically no sparge taken to its logical conclusion. I'm now envisioning a direct fired recirculating BIAB setup to control and maintain mash temps and steps. The big question for me at the moment is what kettle to use. I love the Sabco converted kegs but I'm concerned about the 12" opening... Anyway, glad I found the site, looks like a ton of great info here.

Hi Guys,

Great site here - a wealth of info.

I came here looking for a guide on how to setup a pulley for my BIAB rig - I am currently using an A frame ladder, but am a little sus about the longevity of this approach.

I am up to BIAB number 4 now and am loving it - I actually decided to switch from the traditional 3 vessel approach as this just seemd so much more effective to me ;)

I look forward to being able to contribute here.

Cheers
Rob

Good Day McCue, WELCOME! It's good to hear your First All-Grain Full Volume BIAB batch came out so well. Others will have different opinions about pots/kettles/Keg sizing, But here my $0.02, The narrow opening kettles take Longer to boil off. I good Sized kettle is around Twice the size of the planned batch. So, Full volume plus grain water plus loss water won't overflow, and allows for different Gravities. Good Luck on your next batch, and please post any qustions you have!
