44qt (41.6 liters) should be plenty for a 5 gallon batch.
between the full volume of water and the grain, you might be quite close to the rim, but after taking the bag and grain out you should have room for a nice rolling boil.
Cube:
fermenter: Sourdough Spelt Ale, Classic Lambic, Oud Brune, Barrel Aged Belgian Dubbel
Kegs: Bob's Black IPA, Blanc Blond, Soda...
to be brewed:

Hi there meltz,

One way to check this is to download The Calculator, change the 3 figures in red under "A. Measurements" to match your brews/equipment and then look at the 'Approximate Mash Volume' field - the last field under "A. Measurement." If this is a bit bigger than your pot volume (ot too close for comfort), then you should hold back a bit of your initial water and add it in after you pull the bag / before the boil starts.

Welcome to the forum :peace:

Thanks PP! I have been getting aquainted with all the cool spreadsheets you guys have here. This is a really great forum. I think I will have this method down with all of the great info I have found so far.

meltz, I reckon it's a great forum too. Posts are always done with great spirit - always productive, often fun but never any destructive silliness here.

As for spreadsheets, I think you have a lot to look forward to. One of the members, stux, has been spending hours/days/weeks improving 'The Calculator' you see atm on the site, getting it to a stage where it is light years ahead and will soon become the new calculator used here from what I hear. Another guy, ianh, has spent ages working on a BIAB Beer Designer.

Other members here are also pretty impressive. Some guys answer heaps of questions or never let an unanswered post slip by. Some hold brew days on ice lakes! Some ask questions often with excellent self-deprecating humour. And some, like you, jump in, right from the start, with well-founded enthusiasm - love that!

It's never a boring read here.

All of these brewers have a real enthusiasm - they really enjoy what they are doing - as I think you do. All-grain brewing is a great hobby full-stop but I seriously think that BIAB and this forum add quite a magical touch to all-grain that you won't find anywhere else.

Keep us posted on how you intend to 'play' your pot.
