1. I'm From Edmonton Alberta Canada
2. Some guys were talking about this place on beer mailing list I just subscribed to and I thought this might be a good way to move from extracts
3. This seems like a good method of brewing so I'm liking the site so far.
4. Right now I'm brewing using a brewhouse kit. The next batch is going to be the same but with some ginger thrown in for some kick. Then I think I'm going to see if I can get some ingredients and do some all grain brewing.
5. Currently I work I do IT

Hello baggers!
Been brewing for 1 1/2 years now. Was haunted with the idea of BIAB while upgrading to a Blichmann 20 gallon Boilermaker. It just seems to make more sense to go BIAB. All I need is a big brew bag and maybe a pulley system and I'm set. Heck, I may be the first guy to take a 70 Quart Coleman Extreme mash tun and convert it into a cooler (now there's a twist, yea just a cooler. I like the idea of not having to get another huge kettle, burner, pumps, brew sculpture, etc.
Looking forward to learning and preparing for my first BIAB brew session. Now, for a bag???

Hey All,

My name is Chad and I am from the eastern part of Washingston State. Not Seattle where it rains 300 days a year but the sunny desert that no one ever seems to know about. I learned about this site from HBT when I was researching BIAB. I am excited to learn as much as i can about this technique and cant wait to get started. So far i have brewed one extract batch of Bitter and want to quickly move away from extracts to all grain. outside of brewing I am an IT professional working in a Network operations center.

Hello,

I have been brewing kits for about 6 years(I know I'm a slow evolver), I found a really interesting post on Aussiehomebrewer about BIAB and decided this is what I need too do to get into AG, I been reading loads of info and have probably overloaded my mind in the last week or so. I am going to do my first BIAB on Monday.

Chef.

Hi, I am from Canada (close to Toronto), and usually brew indoors during the cold months on the stovetop, however i like to brew outdoors in summer. BIAB works well for the outside brew, since it is less equipment that I have to move around when I decide to brew outdoors.

I am hoping to learn a lot from you guys!
Cheers,
tommiedw

Hi All,

I've been doings kits for a while now and have just done my first extract brew using a Buffalo water heater and a recipe from Graham Wheeler (Flowers IPA). I'm already looking into moving to BIAB as I have all the kit now except the bag! I'm here to try to get some knowledge about what is needed - if anyone can tell me if Wheeler's recipes can be transferred straight over to BIAB I'd appreciate it!

Cheers everyone,
Paul.

Hi All,

I've been brewing for 3 years, 2 years K+K and the last year BIAB. From Moorabbin in Melbourne, Australia. I stumbled across this site last night via a Google search but am familiar with Pistol Patch via the AHB BIAB thread. I've done around 12 BIAB brews so far, great fun, mixed results. Keen for more tips!

Cheers

Hi!

I've brewed some extract batches in the last year and looking for information about AG brewing discovered BIAB. I've got a 40 l. Buffalo urn ready for my first AG brew.

Cheers

Hi everyone!

I'm currently brewing kits, but looking to move to AG. I'm looking to start out with BIAB as I really don't have the space for separate vessels for HLT, MT and a boiler.

Hoping to glean some useful info from you guys int he coming few weeks as I get everything ready to go!

Hey there!

New brewer from Sweden. I am one of the odd people that never made a kit, or used extracts, but will instead start right off with all-grain by the means of BIAB. I have made a few batches of wine from locally collected fruit and such before though (a funny concoction fermenting right now.. =D).

Anyways getting ready for my first BIAB - a Belgian Wit!

G'DAy All,

Live in the Dandenongs, VIC. 5 brews so far - three extracts and two fresh worts. Wanted to do my own All Grain and have been watching U-tube - Bought Beersmith and heard the Interview with Pat and Biab on Podcast. All that way to find it all at home - Bloody Rippa!

Looking forward to my Biab brews - just need a wort Chiller and I'm away. The Old Man would be proud!

Hello Everyone,

I've been a homebrewer and winemaker for about three years now and I'm making the transition to all grain via the BIAB method. Mostly because I'm cheap and gigantic cooler mash tuns aren't.

I like to brew weird beers, especially belgian inspired beers and hopless beers (gruits) and recently I've been collecting wild yeast.

I live in Milwaukee, WI, my 'brewery' is named Mute Dog, and I occasionally blog about my homebrewing and winemaking at http://mutedog.freesand.com/

I'm going to be brewing my first BIAB beer tonight. I'm making a Saison with 33% spelt and fermenting it with yeast procured from a bottle of Jolly Pumpkin's Bam Biere.

Hi all,
Having bought an electric 27l urn, I realized that BIAB would be the easiest way to go.
Can't seem to find a bag to buy here in Sweden so I'll have one sewn from the curtain cloth Sarita (might be available world-wide, wherever there is an IKEA?).
When trying to find instructions etc I understood that I "need" to be a member of this form. And in order to become that, I "need" to make this, my first post. So, here you have it from an old, fat guy.
I grew into my name

I am from North Florida (Tallahassee/Monticello area)

3. What you think of it so far?
I will let you all know Saturday afternoon!

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
Yeah I have been brewing for 2 years. Doing extract batches, but making my own recipes. I am doing my first all-grain this weekend with the BIAB method.

Hi Everyone, I'm in Los Angeles, CA and just getting started in making a jump to AG brewing... BIAB just seemed like a logical transition and I'm looking forward to learing and sharing. This is going to be great...

hello,

i'm chuck. i found out about the site while bottling at a local brewery. http://www.saintsomewherebrewing.com/ I was asking if anyone had an old keg to convert into a brew kettle. Sure enough, one of the guys bottling had one already converted in his truck! He told me about the site and how much easier it was brewing in one vessel. So far, I have brewed only two batches of extract. Both turned out pretty good so I wanted to gather the supplies for all grain. This method sounds perfect for me! I can't wait to brew my first batch!

Oh, I'm from Tarpon Springs, FL. I started brewing a few months ago. I actually got started because my parents got a turkey fryer for last christmas that they had no use for. I asked if I could use it to brew beer and of course they said yes.

Thanks for the great forum! Happy brewing.

I'm from New Hampshire and have been an occasional brewer for 20 years. The first ten as an extract brewer and the last ten all grain.

I just ordered a larger kettle and plan to do my first BIAB this month.

hello my name is mike and i am trying to get info on how to attach the bag in keggle when mashing i have done extract and think this will be a good was to move into all grain thanks in advance any tips would be appreciated

Post #949 made 14 years ago
Hi there and welcome to MIKE and all the other new members :salute:

There are heaps of ways to attach the bag Mike. Some people have a drawstring or elastic sewn into their bag. Others will tie a cord around the bag once it drapes over the kettle and some people even use three or four 'bulldog' clips to simply clip the bag to the kettle and skin this particular cat :).

Have fun!

If you size your bag right,it will fit snuggly around the outside rim of your kettle. Some people use alligator type clips to keep it in place.Mine fitts niceeey enough that I jist let'r hang.
