I'm looking for some advice from someone who has experience in brewing with tea. I did a braggot with Earl Grey and it came out fine, but that was a very big beer. I want to brew perhaps a pale ale with tea, probably a Bohea or Dianhong tea.
Bohea: A heavenly, smooth USDA Certified Organic black tea with a sweet oakey note.
Dianhong: The processed tea leaves have a dark red tint and the brewed tea is a golden orange color. The tea has a robust flavor with a hint of plum.
So has anyone else brewed a beer with tea?

I'm thinking I could do well with Roibos. After drinking a cuppa, I looked it up:
"Rooibos also contains a number of phenolic compounds, including flavanols, flavones, flavanones, and dihydrochalcones."
"Smooth, slightly nutty, and never bitter."
"With its vaunted health benefits, sweet flavor and appealing rich mahogany color..."
Roibos Red Lager anyone?

No, I've never added tea to beer, but it does sound quite interesting. The subtle tea flavours would be quite OK in some beers I think, that's given me a bit to think about for the specialty category in the local comps!
I've mucked around with star anise in dry stout, that's one I quite enjoy. Rooibos is a bit funky, my sister likes it but I can't drink it all the time. Search has found a few, the Lindemans Lambic sounds interesting.
For a really nice smooth smoky effect, try Lapsang Souchong, it isn't harsh like you'd expect. As an aside, my favourite tea blend is 1/4 Lapsang Souchong, 1/4 Earl Gray and 1/2 Darjeeling, my Scottish relatives in Arbroath gave me a cuppa of this when I arrived completely knackered from a very uncomfortable 12- hour bus trip out of London (never do that again, always take the train!), it was the most refreshing beverage I've ever had in my life! They had an excellent tea merchant in Dundee, could usually source the best quality fresh product.
