I am looking for a Lagunitas LSS clone

Post #1 made 11 years ago
After reading the intro for this section of the board, I realize that i am not quite ready to create my own recipe. I have more reading to do. So with that said I am looking for a wheat/IPA recipe. Hopefully someone has a clone of my favorite beer, Lagunitas little sumpin  . If not, any tested wheat/IPA WOULD WORK. I would need it for either a three or one gallon . Thanks

Hi Weisse,

That's not one I am aware of and it may never have been cloned. I suggest researching the style and perhaps emailing the brewery to see if they are willing to give you some pointers. Another angle is to search for similar beers and tweak them to your taste.

Part of the fun of brewing is just giving it a go, very rarely do you end up with an undrinkable beer. You can always post your recipe/ideas here for comment.

Rick, I am not sure how to respond to that. But, it's ok because "we" figured out that I don't have the computer power to use Biabicus. I tried using it with MS works/spreadsheet and it would not work. Hopefully some one out there can be of assistance.

Rather than re-direct you to another topic, here is a snippet from the conversation.

You can open, change and use it in OpenOffice and LibreOffice without any problems at all as long as you remember to always save it as .xls. As for that warning thing, you will get that even if using Excel. It's really just telling you that you are saving it in an older format. Forget about it!

So AFAIK - you will need either; MS Excel, libreoffice, or Openoffice to use the BIABacus.

Honest miscommunication then, I suppose ...

It was safe for me to assume you had access to the BIABacus considering this comment ...
Do you think someone who understands the Biabicus better than I do could put that recipe into it?
This implies that you can, but do not know how to use the spreadsheet. I was hoping you would enter what you could, and then based on your attempt we could go through your sticking points to help familiarize you with the spreadsheet step by step.

I think mally has given you a great first step.

I am also gathering that you are not very adept with computers? (Not being able to find one of the many LSS clones I found through a simple Google search, coupled with your troubles with using the spreadsheet seem like this is a fair assumption?)

Just trying to get information from you, so that we know where to start the education process.

If somebody wants to spoon feed you information, and do all of the work for you ... that would be fortunate for you. I'm more the type who likes to "teach a man how to fish", rather than keeping him dependent on others to feed him. If you disagree with this, I guess this is where we can part as friends! :peace:

Mally thanks for the tip. I don't use my pc much anymore mainly ipad. So I have completely forgot about open office. I will attempt to use this application/software. I guess iOS can't do everything. Thanks for being helpful, I am not against reading and research but my brain can remember everything it used to. . Besides if you( tenured brewers) didn't have us noobs around, maybe this website wouldn't be as informative as it has become. Thanks again. I will post back if I need some more guidance.
