BIABabacus scaling?

Post #1 made 11 years ago
Hi all,

Sorry still pretty new to the Abacus spreadsheet which seems to be very good. I thought I'd try the NRM's Amarillo APA as a starter but can only see a recipe using a 70l vessel - I've got 50 and was hoping to bottle about 23/25l. How should I set about scaling this in the spreadsheet - is there a user guide I've missed?

Thanks
James

Hi there James,

All you need to do to scale a recipe in the BIABacus is, in Section B, change the 'Kettle Diameter', 'Kettle Height' and 'Volume into Fermentor (VIF)' to match your own kettle's dimensions and your desired VIF. When you do this, you will see the quantities on the right hand side of Sections B and C change. It is those quantities under 'What you will use...' that you need to order for your brew.

The BIABacus is only a pre-release atm so there is no user guide. There is a bit of help here but some pictures etc relate to an earlier pre-release. Many of the principles there remain unchanged though.

Just post back here if you are still having problems.

:peace:
