First Hi!, Haven't been on here in awhile.
I have a pale ale that is ready to be kegged anytime. My plan was to keg it and throw a fresh batch of wort on top of the yeast. However I will not have time this week to brew. Do you think I could keg the pale ale and than leave the yeast in my fermenter, and just put the fermenter back in my fermenting fridge (which I could dial to freezing temps if I wanted), and leave it there for a week until I am ready to brew and put fresh wort on the yeast?

Hopefully one of those links talks about yeast washing - in plain boiled water.
You need to keg your beer now jrodie. Add a few litres of plain boiled water to the yeast cake, swirl it around and drain it into a bottle or two. Only fill those bottles to a third. Add another third of cooled boiled water to those bottles and then let them sit in your fridge for a day. Once they have settled, drain off the top bit of clear water and to up with more cooled, boiled water.
Depending on the yeast, you can go for months like this.

I just had two batches fermenting side by side for a podcast experiment. I left a inch of beer on top of the yeast cakes (at room temperature) for a week. Just the other day I poured off the beer and used the yeast cake for a simple plain ale. It's fermenting now. The fermenter looked dirty but it was filled with C02 and should be OK. I could have poured the beer off and used a sanitized utensil to move the yeast into a clean bucket but I had no bucket free. Reusing yeast is easy but you can't push it to far!

Thanks guys ... PP you're right I do need to get the ale in the keg it's been empty since March :'(... Bob please let us know how the beer in the week old yeast cake turns out.
