Fermenting too high?

Post #1 made 16 years ago
hey fellas
I am now up to brew #4 1 extract 3 BIABs all four tasted great :D but, had a sour-sweet fruity hint to the nose. I am contributing this slight odor to fermenting in the 75 F to 79 F range. I now have a donated small freezer that will be my fermenting chamber.I had to bend the shelves (which are the coils) out-of-the-way,amazed at how far you can bend those things don't even resemble shelves anymore :D Will be brewing my first IPA tomorrow so it will be ready to keg when I get back from vacation :D
by the way all my friends say the beer taste great and I am just being over critical ;)

jmbingham,
You will be over critical for a while yet. Just take your time and enjoy the ride. My friends and family drop in for a free brew, that tells me I am doing OK. I think my beers are just acceptable. Don't take it to seriously it will spoil it for you.
tap 1 Raspberry wine
tap 2 Bourbon Barrel Porter
tap 3 Czech Pilsner
tap 4 Triple IPA 11% ABV

Pipeline: Mulled Cider 10% ABV

Congratulations jmbingham on #4. Well done ;).

I have just edited the way in which two of the posts above were written so as metric readers can use, "The Converter," and therefore readily understand and contribute to your thread.

If you see some metric posts that are not correctly written, let me know and I'll edit their post/s accordingly and give the authors a similar heads-up.

One of the main aims of BIABrewer.info is to enable easy communication between brewers across the globe. The major, and quite unique, tool we have at the moment is, "The Converter."

Cheers,
Pat

thanks pat I think half of the issues with my earlier batches were their age. I bottled some of my beer to take on vacation and they tasted great. They were bottled about a week prior to going in 1 L swing top bottles.Maybe it was just the fact that I was drinking my beer, while smoking fine cigars, around a fire, in the Georgia mountains with good friends :D Think I'll still be a little over critical but will have to learn a little patience :( Thanks for all the help fellas
