 I don't think that pulling the bag will be an issue for you! :P Nice setup. Just remember that you lose quite a lot of heat from the lid - a folded sleeping bag/jacket/cushion/fleece on the lid help to keep the heat in.

Please let us know who the first brew went.

Natdene,

:luck: We will be here (maybe) if you need a answer to confuse you more! Have a great time and remember that this is a very forgiving hobby. The only real way to screw up a beer is by not being sanitary. You may never tell that you forgot a ingredient or that your temperatures were off. You will know if you infected a beer by not being careful! Good luck!

How do you guys Down Under keep the wort from running out of your kettles?

(Or is the picture just sideways when viewed in the Northerm Hemisphere?)

You guys have had to many brews! Photo looks fine down here in Aus!. Btw the hook was a left over from my roofing days
Happy to report back that all went well with the first brew on the crown urn, it is now no chilling waiting to go into the fermenting fridge tomorrow. Will post in about 8 weeks time with the results!

What a way to spend Australia Day - Brewing a beer and now sinking a few on the deck with the beautiful sound of rain on the roof

Natdene,
A quick update on the black IPA - only 3 weeks old and it's tasting fantastic! Thanks Bob! I will be doing this one again
Good at 3 weeks! you are on track for a train ride to paradise! It does get better with time but it rarely makes it that far. I use it as a sipper at night and I miss it dearly once it's gone. Keep us informed as to how it holds up with time and if you sense the changes as I do? I am a crackpot you know! :argh:
