BIAB trolley 'rigs' for electric brewers

Post #1 made 14 years ago
My BIAB setup consists of a 30L Birko urn which sits on top of two milkcrates, underneath a pulley with a cleat on the wall. This system works great but there's something that I want to tweak.

Sometimes the urn may not be completely centred underneath the the pulley. In this case the bag comes out slightly off centre and I slide the milkcrates over a tad. When I have over 20L of mash at 78 degrees an accident at this point could be bad. I've been looking at all the different BIAB stands and rigs lately to check out others' ideas. Some setups are gas powered, some have in-built skyhooks, you name it. The home brewing community are very creative!

IKEA are advertising a bunch of kitchen trolleys which look fairly BIAB-able, especially for all electric brewers like me. I haven't been into the shop and sadly the website doesn't rate the trolleys for maximum weight bearing.

This one is $169.

This one costs $249, but I like the fact it has 4 wheels so less lifting hot liquids.

What do other brewers think of these? They remind a little of how Beachbum's tool trolley stand looks in the pics. Would you attempt building on a skyhook arm to one of these? I'm thinking I probably wouldn't bother... Finally, are there cheaper, better options I should know about?

Where does your electric BIAB setup sit? What works and what doesn't?

Cheers,
Cameron

the wooden one will do if your trying to stay on a budget. it's also safer to use with an electric urn as apposed to a metal rig.
in any case i wouldn't try fitting a skyhook arm for fear it may tip over if the weight is not centered.
Cube:
fermenter: Sourdough Spelt Ale, Classic Lambic, Oud Brune, Barrel Aged Belgian Dubbel
Kegs: Bob's Black IPA, Blanc Blond, Soda...
