Improving Best Bitter

Post #1 made 12 years ago
I just had my first sample of a Best Bitter that's been in the bottle for a few weeks. I understand it still has a while to go till maturity. I am very happy with it though. Actually, the things that would hopefully improve with time have pretty much worked out. The carb level, if anything, is a bit high at 2 volumes so it is certainly well carbed already. It is also very pleasant tasting too. I can't detect any off flavors and the bittering is just right for me.

The area that I would like to improve for next time is the depth of flavor. It is a bit bland then what I was looking for. There is only a very faint hint of maltiness where I was looking for more in that area. Any hints to make this beer more malty/biscuity/interesting?

Also very little in hops flavor or aroma but I would look to up the amounts of hops in these areas.

I will attach the recipe.
Thanks
Stew

Stew(BabyfaceFinster), I would cut the Flaked Corn from 1 pound to 0.5#, and raise the Victory malt from 0.25# to 0.75#.

The Corn just adds sweetness. The Victory will give more Malt, and some biscuit/toast.

Please hold the posts to this thread for the moment.

1. BIABacus Pre-Release files can only be posted in this thread.

2. There are a few errors in Section D of your file. Post your file in the above thread and someone will correct the errors. Until this is done, any answers to your question may be based on some incorrect assumptions.

3. The step above may also answer your question. If not, once the file has been corrected, then you can post the Recipe Report here but not the file. The Recipe Report is easier for everyone to examine as well.

:luck:
