Suggestions for Golden Promise recipe.

Post #1 made 13 years ago
Hey guys,

I'm aware that I'm probably posting this in the wrong place...

Was hoping that some of you seasoned brewers wouldn't mind imparting a little wisdom. If YOU had a load of Golden Promise lying around and wanted to brew something straight forward what would you go with? I'm still new to all grain and am still learning about the qualities of different malts, hops and yeast.

Would anyone do a SMaSH brew using GP? I understand that it makes a fairly sweet beer, so what hop/s would compliment this?

Any feedback appreciated as always.

Cheers,

Lee

Thanks Lylo.

Since posting I've had a look round and will most likely go for something like this;

Timothy Taylor Landlord http://www.hopandgrain.com/recipeSearch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 20Landlord

Batch Size: 25 litres
Original Gravity: 1042
Final Gravity: 1009
Alcohol Content: 4.4 %
Total Grains: 4,660 gm
Color: 10 EBC 6SRM
IBUs: 35

Grain Bill

4,460 golden promise pale malt

Hop Bill:

styrian goldings hops 42gm (90 mins)
fuggles hops 35 gm (90 mins)
goldings hops 15gm (15 mins)
irish moss 10 gm (15 mins)

I'd be keen fir any suggestions on tweaking the hop list/schedule as I like a hoppy beer and am not too bothered about sticking to the Tim Taylor Landlord recipe.

Lee :salute:

If I was playing with it I would probably add a 15G or so FWH addition.Nothing that would screw it up but would add a smooth bit of bitterness and flavour. I expect Todd would use the styrian golding for this and I may too if I had it. Wait!!I do!!
