I currently weigh my hop additions on a digital scale which measures in 2 gram increments. It isn't that accurate either, as sometimes when I put the container back on the scale it measures -.2g. I have been trying to find something which will measure in 0.1 gram increments. Obviously it doesn't need to go above 500 grams max. I have seen a lot of mini scales on ebay but the pan size is very small eg 76 x 65 mm. I suppose I could always fit a plastic cup on something like that but was hoping to find something a bit bigger physically. Does anyone out there have a better solution? Thanks,
Bob

I use one of those eBay models, I think they call it a jewelers scale. They are small, I don't find it to much issue. If your using pellets then you can easily fit a small plastic container on them that will hold enough for each addition. For flowers I grab one of my kids small breakfast bowls and that works fine.
I'm happy to work around the size since I only paid $8.90 delivered! Bargain!

I got a rather nice one from the local department store for about 30CAN. It can measure g/Kg/oz/lbs and can tare weight, and has 0.1
But I think the best part about it is that it has a 5Kg capacity so I can do almost mt whole grain bill.
Besides a food scale at a department store, some people buy the scales from a "pipe shop" where they can also buy papers/bongs if you get where I'm going with this. Guys in my brewclub say they can get extremely high quality and accurate scales at affordable prices...

i really wouldn't stress about a 2 gram inaccuracy in weighing hops. you'd probably get that much IBU inaccuracy from inconsistent vigor of boil or chilling time.
Cube:
fermenter: Sourdough Spelt Ale, Classic Lambic, Oud Brune, Barrel Aged Belgian Dubbel
Kegs: Bob's Black IPA, Blanc Blond, Soda...

I've got the same scales as ianh that I bought from Deal Extreme. They seem to work pretty awesome:

Best move you can ever make (apart from getting a bag) is to get accurate scales. I went a bit upmarket and bought mine from a proper kitchen shop, they weigh up to 5k in 1g increments but have a big stainless steel bowl so I use them for weighing spec grains, not just hops.
They really came into their own yesterday, I'd just received 3 bags of hops, kilo, from a Victorian hop supplier and they arrived 15 minutes before I had to be out of the door to head into Brisbane to meet Ralph who went halves in the buy.
Out came the scales and I had them neatly into 500g lots in about 10 minutes.
With modern high alpha hops, a 2 gram difference in the bittering hops such as Chinook or Magnum can make a really noticeable difference.
Isn't it interesting that we still refer to scales as "them", although they no longer look like the old "scales of justice" model, well most don't anyway.
