Yettiman/Tony
Stick with the dried yeast and don't worry about the water treatment at this stage, I am still using dried yeast and have only started to get to grips with the black arts of water treatment! Since I have started treating the water my beer is better but then so is my brewing technique, how much is down to which improvement I couldn't accurately say.
Steve
I think we are unlikely to be able to get hold of genuine brewery yeast as none of us are particularly close to the brewery and they are quite possessive of their "special ingredients" such as the proper yeast. It will be interesting to see the differences between the various yeasts used in the initial brews, as for getting close to HG? Time will tell... keep following the adventure!

I am beginning to think it would be good to do the exact same grain & hop bill, but we all use a different yeast?
If the Burton ale yeast turns out to be the best, I think I will be harvesting from the bottle!

A thought about the recipe, will one of the BIABacus 'gods' be able to create the sheet for us all to follow?
More than confident to follow a grain bill, and even enter my set up into BIABacus, but not always certain I get the 'tweaks' quite right.
But will submit my report to everyone with the beer samples to aid the reviews.
I am guessing we will be doing blind tastings then reading the reports after.

I'll do it tonight if no one has already knocked a file together. The thing is that whoever posts it will have to update it with any tweaked versions. No real hardship as long as we get it right first time.
Everyone still good to go ?? I'm getting there, I've drunk that much HG the passed 3 weeks I'll be glad when this is all over

I'm still primed and waiting! As there will be a lot more tasting to do once we get to the comparisons, you might want to switch to drinking your own stuff for the time being. You don't want to get HG blind! (Where everything tastes the same... and that's all like HG)I'm getting there, I've drunk that much HG the passed 3 weeks I'll be glad when this is all over
As for the BIABacus file I must confess to not really using it (don't tell PP, I'll be light green again!) I follow the Bob style of brewing where I don't stress too much and still get great beer!
Obviously for this I will use it and follow the recipe to the letter, I just don't know enough to give us a starting recipe.
I guess this could be time to learn!?

His only downside is he smells really bad!

I thought Cheese only referred to the competition run by Bob. I didn't know he took it that far!

Yeasty, I can send you mine, but I am no BIABacus expert so you will need to check it. So not sure if it will save you much time. Let me know, and I'll PM you it over. I has not been checked but an expert, so should not really post it openly (is this correct)?

Hi guys
Does anyone have a recipe yet? I have a basic list of ingredients and timings but haven't actually got around to tidying it up and BIABacus-ing it.
I should get time this weekend if required. Let me know if it is (required).

I have a BIABacus PR1.3T with info from the brewing network entered into it.
May need a few tweaks from each individual but it may be enough to get us all started?
The only problem with this version is it can ONLY be posted in the advanced thread, so I can either upload the sheet in that thread or I can PM each of you with a copy.
Or - what if I send a copy just to Yeasty, where you can do a quick check and make comments/amendements before mass mailing?
Just a thought.

Mally: I'd be inclined to post it in the advanced thread and post a link in this thread. Any adjustments tweaks can be discussed here and entered into our own copies. It does mean that you will have to be in charge of edits to the posted copy if required, or if you want pm me the file and I'll post it.
Catch you later

Hi Guys
I've PM'd the Biabacus file to all bottle swap brewers, if I've missed you or you want to join drop me a pm.
On the original podcast the Wychwood Headbrewer mentioned that they First wort hop at 80c and whirlpool hop there final addition. The BN recipe just has a 60min addition and the final addition at 15min. I'll leave it up to the individual as to which method you decide to use.
Joshua linked to a BYO article which you can find Here
Catch you later,
