HERBS

So i got bored.... and HERBS was born.

Its most likely has some major issues and there wouldn't be much point to it, but I suppose it would be cool to be able to control mash temp to .5 of a degree or so.... THe heat exchanger is most likely not needed I would suppose as long as you were circulating the wort from the bottom of the pot to the top. No lifting to mashout or step mash, just set the temp mate circulate and away you go....

I don't think so. I was reading a post on another board and a person was talking about his ability to control mash temp etc... with his herms and the control over attenuation it gave him so I thought how could I transfer this to BIAB? But I think I will just save my time and money and fabricate a better insulation jacket for my pot. I am looking at switching over to electric and I do like the idea of recirculating to maintain temp, so maybe just take out the heat exchanger and use the element to maintain mash temps.

Or I could get my brewing processes down pat and make better beer haha

I like your thinking OB and your name for it :)

Personally, I like BIAB because of it's simplicity, so I wont be going for a HERBS setup.

I started designing a RIBS system which was like HERBS but more of a RIMS than a HERMS - had a pump but no heat exchanger as the wort would be heated on its way through by the built in electric element in the bottom of the urn. Costed it out and bought a second urn instead
