This is my version on Nik's "ultimate BIAB vessel"

as you can see it has interior chiller, PID controller and volume gauge

also I have made a 50 micron filter.

That way I have increased kettle's efficiency since I can filter kettle's trub

You electric guys will have to start a competition :P. Seeing some impressive work here lately. Top job miren.

Does the interior chiller stay inside the kettle for the whole brew? Looks like it is pretty permanent to me.

:salute:

Yes the chiller stays in all the time at Mirens version which is somehow full automated .
@PistolPatch Miren is responsible for the Greek all in one Calculator .I believe you can contact him to excange thoughts and maybe beta testing of the new version of the Calculator.

Wow, very nice! I love the built in chiller.

Do you have any concerns/problems with the control panel being that close (under) the drain spigot?
WWBBD?

Thank you all for the answers.
@thughes....you are right. This is the weak spot of the construction. I'm trying to move it in another place because at my last brew, wort fell on the controller and caused short circuit

I think this is the first built-in chiller I've seen miren. Has nik got one of these as well? I would have thought it would make it hard to pull your bag out and also be hard to clean the chiller/kettle but these two things don't seem to to be causing you any problems. I'm guessing you are using the bag for your hops too?

Good on you for doing the Greek all in one calculator ;). If you want to beta test the new one, send Pat a PM with your email address.

Good stuff ;)

There is no problem in pulling out the bag but you guessed right in the cleaning part of your sentence. Particular when I'm using hop leafs. So I overcome the problem by using pellets.

I am using this vessel as a simple boiler with the benefit of its excellent thermal insulation and for chilling I use a common copper immersion chiller which I remove when the chilling is complete (pretty basic staff).

How about using your bag for your hops miren? Just a quick rinse after you mash out and it should be good to go for your hops. I've got the copper coil like nik but even the pellet hop gunge tends to build up after a few brews .

Hi Miren

very nice assembly...just a question...where do you source the heating element?
did you have to bend by yourself or it was already shaped that way?

What about adding a circulating pump :-)?

ciao

I use small coton bags for the hops.
This spiral ss tube needs a lot of cleaning, you are right, it is not so practical concerning the cleaning effort but my desing principle is all in one if possible

Hello Davide
I gave a sketch and the heating element was bended by the small industry were I have ordered it.
I'm thinking on adding a pump but I have issues to solve.
1. Price
2. Temperature endurance
3. Size
4. Availability in Greek market
5. Head and flow rate

I think that a dishwasher pump will do the job

Thanks for answering my questions miren :peace:

nala uses a cheap pump on his kettle here. There's a link to the pump website in post #8. Maybe that will do the trick for you?

New age in BIAB method with better efficiency since I use the water that the calculator uses as the amount that grain absorbs as sparge water ;)

I bought stainless steel net with 0.5 mm holes. I cut a fermentation bucket as you see at the photos and I melt the bucket using a tool that joins PP tubes

I also use one of those pumps. they are surprisingly good for the price. I run through a herms unit and back into the top of the pot during the mash and also use it to whirlpool before no chilling. It runs fine even at temperatures just below 100 degrees C.
