The rest of the day went just fine. After boiling for an hour my gravity was at 13 P and I cooled it off as usual. I oxygenated using a disposable tank for the first time. I then pitched my 1.5 L starter and she's off to the races. It was already bubbling this AM and is starting to get pretty vigorous. Temp is a little high at 78 F,

I did forget to write down things like final volume, volume left in the kettle, etc. I've just not previously cared much about these numbers. I mostly just boil until I hit my planned gravity and try to get as much into the fermentor as possible. It would be nice to know some of these to help calculate my evaporation rate.

I will most likely brew up an American wheat next week, so I'll have to see if I can remember to write down these numbers next time.

Gridiron_Gang,

It sounds like your well on your way to be a brewing champ! Just remember that you won't remember much once you start brewing? Write it down as soon as you can. No matter how much you think "I'll remember that, It's easy". You will forget! I did it a couple of times today and I know better! Also remember that numbers are nice but housekeeping and sanitation are the most important thing! You can still brew a good beer without writing the numbers down but a beer will fail with bad sanitation.

BobBrews, thanks for the encouragement. I have to admit that I usually can't remember any of these numbers long enough to clean off my refractometer much less until end if the brew day. Thank God for the Brew Pal app for iPhone. I would be lost without it.
