First AG BIAB - 4 Pines Pale Ale

Tried my first BIAB AG brew last night. Thought I would dive straight in with the 4 Pines Pale Ale clone as I know this brewery.

Anyway thought I would share some pics. The night wasn't a great success but gave me a chance to test the equipment in anger. I will need to invest in a bigger burner as the main problem was reaching the boil. It took far too long so I started to compensate with hop timings. Fortunately a friend leant me his burner hence the second burner shown.

Anyway will see how it goes, get a better burner and repeat.

Hi Edclaridge, nice pics! Seldom does a first brewday go without issue, but if you get beer in the end, it was a success! Only way to really get things dialed in for your setup is to brew on it, and improve as you go. Let us know how the beer turns out!

Take a look at http://www.brewinabag.com for the bag and the pulley. The pulley and ratchet system works really well. The bag is for superior to anything I have seen in nz brew shops so far and being able to pull out and hang in this way was extremely simple. I have now invested in a bigger heater so will repeat this recipe at the weekend to see how more efficient I can be 2nd time around. Cheers.

Repeated the recipe yesterday. The new burner shaved approx 3 hours of the brew day. Also only lost about 2 degrees in the mash over 90 mins which was pretty good.
