Well, I got distracted and missed my 15 min hop addition. We'll see what happens....... Kind of irritated at myself.

FatDog - Something is not right with some of your measurements.

Mash Volume is the content when the mash bag is in the boil pot. VIB - Volume Into Boil is after the bag has been pulled.

Good job noting What you have, it takes a few times to get it all down...just recommend having you review the BIAB terminologies page. Make sure you understand that one. And we all make mistakes... You'll catch it next time. ;)

Thanks. I'll have to look into that.

All things said, this beer is pretty darn tasty. Smooth drinking, strong citra presence, delicious tasting. I still need to fine tune my setup and numbers, but here's the biabacus file.

Cheers!

Good job with documenting this, FatDog!

I had a look at the revised file. All looks in order as far as I can see, except for the priorly mentioned low efficiency. Keep at it, pay attention to detail, and I expect your efficiency will be better next time.

Not surprising to hear that...even with some errors, it still tastes good. Thankfully whole grain brewing is very forgiving if we make mistakes. :drink:

Am I wrong, or is something not calculating correctly with this Biabacus? I downloaded FatDog's Biabacus for the Catahoula IPA and entered my kettle dimensions (16" diameter and 18" height, converted to cm) and this Biabacus calculated my kettle volume at 18.15 gallons (68.7 liters). The kettle volume should be 15.67 gallons (59.3 liters).

Short on time so I'll leave it you guys to explain more fully. What's happening here is FatDog has made some Kettle Shape Adjustments in Section X. The inputs are definitely incorrect.

This post explains the correct measurements to take when dealing with a non-stockpot kettle.

:luck:

Thanks PP!

Streamer - thanks for catching that! Great Attention to Detail! I hadn't looked over at the far right column that deals with major default adjustments... Oops. You really don't want to mess with the defaults unless you are 100% certain you are right.

FatDog - good explanations given by PP with his link. Do you have a reason to make a volume adjustment to your brew pot?

Looking at section X, I think I misunderstood that these were alterations from the norm. I had a bad version of the file that was giving me an incorrect volume measurement. I'll go back and probably delete that and try the recipe again.

I'd like to try this recipe next. Attached is the Biabacus I've modified based on the discussion above. Does all this look right? I'll post my results as I go.
FatDog, thanks for posting this - let's compare notes!

I'm no expert, but, I'd say give it ago.

As for the Citra hops, the more I drink this beer, it just seems really sweet. Is that the hops or something wrong in my recipe or execution? Thoughts appreciated.
