Well, I've treated this as an experimental run through, with the intention of something to drink at the end of it whatever it tastes like.
Kit brewing has been valuable in getting me used to terminology etc but I dont want 40 pints at a time, so looking for around 20 bottles out of each batch.
18 Litres of Water at 68°c
2.5kg Maris Otter pale malt
Mashed for 90 minutes.
Boil for 90 minutes after mashout.
12g chinnok leaf @ 75minutes.
14g chinnok leaf @ 30 minutes.
18g chinnok leaf @ 10 minutes
6g cascade pellet @ 10 minutes
¼ protafloc tablet @ 10 minutes.
Gravity post boil 1.052, if US-05 gets down to 1.10 should give 5.5 abv.
Advice from this forum and others have led me to his transit fro Kit brewing.
So much love to you all.

Valleyred72,
Here is a early BIABACUS spredsheet of your Recipe.
Many things were created from 'Dust'
to help you start doing BIABACUS.xls
Please ask any questions you have and any more information to change the data to suite your Brew!

Well, we always love the love valleyred so we better get you sorted properlyvalleyred72 wrote:Advice from this forum and others have led me to this transit from Kit brewing.

Josh has given you a bit of a base to work from in his file above but there is still lots of info we need. For example...
1. How wide is your kettle? (See Section B of Josh's file)
2. How deep is your kettle? (See Section B of Josh's file)
3. How strong are your Chinook and Cascade hops (type the AA% on the right hand side if Section D).
There are quite a few other things we need to get sorted but most of those you can do by reading and studying this, this and this. They will take a little study but they will serve you well.

Apologies for the temporary absence, had a little password trouble but all sorted now.
I should have made myself clear before posting originally, but I had already completed the brew.
I'd been reading up for a while and decided as I'd got the kit together I'd just jump in and give it a go.
It went pretty smoothly as it goes, I did however learn how 2.5kg of wheat can create its own flour cloud which will cover everything in the kitchen.
Other than that I have around 8 litres sat in a secondary and it has cleared very nicely, in fact I'll be bottling it up tomorrow.
As I type I am 70 minutes into the boil of my second batch, which I have pimped a little with a 5% Caramalt addition. I also sparged a little on this with a litre of water at 78 degrees C. I got around 18 litres on at the boil so should end up with more going into the fermenter this time.
Thanks for the replies and follow up info. I spend my working life on spreadsheets so I'm working my way through the Biabacus also.
Cheers
