Nice one RL! My keyboard has blown up - using on-screen board to type this . Give me a day or 2 and I'll be back on track.

Sorry and spot!

So much for the day or two of getting back on track. Have had interstate visitors and too much work on.

Will send stitch a PM now.

How did you guys go?

Great. It was my first bit of mail at the new house :P
redlegger sent 2 very nice beers and gave very nice feedback for my 2. Well worth doing and I'm totally keen to do it again :) I've kept the tube, so the rest is easy!

I reckon use this thread.

But Stitch, did you even get a beer? I thought you and I were meant to be giving each other one?

I hope you haven't been two-timing me .

Hey fellas, sorry i have been a bit slack on this thread, busy busy!! NME and i swapped a few weeks back and here are my tasting notes for his beers :) please excuse my noobness :P

"Just finished your two now, i got to knock off early today
My palate is very green so dont take any of the below as gospel !

Best Bitter.....
Poured nice golden color, a little hazy, nice lacey head to start, head dissipates in about 5 minutes (could be my hand washed glasses tho!) A little yeast sediment floating about, but nothing to be concerned about, well carbonated, not too much not too little, just right for my taste!
nice Hop aromoa, first taste is... wow.. i think i could quoff this all afternoon! Nice bitterness, doesnt linger too long, like the hops in this one, not sure what they are?
Overall i really like this beer, could definatley put it on my tap and it wouldnt last long!

Porter
Poured a beautiful dark chocolate color, almost black but could see ruby colors shine thru when held up to the light. Nice lacey head, lasted the entire pint! Carbonation again just right, a little sediment but nothing to fret about.
FIrst taste..... POW this one let me know who was boss straight away...and i liked it! a variety of tastes all in one and my palate is just not mature enough to pick all of them up, maybe caramelly (i could be way off) but i did detect some dark sweetness. Not a session beer for me, but definatley a good desert or winter warmer for sure!

Hope that all makes sense
I enjoyed both beers but in different ways!"

Bup, we are delaying it for a while. Stitch is a bit stuck on time and I have to re-plumb my whole set-up. Fun!

Nice beer review btw :).

Here's my reviews of redleggers beers:

Kolsch:
The Kolsch poured a cloudy straw colour with a nice sized white head, that eventually died back to a nice thin lacing. I couldn't work out what the aroma was, but it was kind of fruity. Had a nice mouth feel and a taste that was reminiscent of a wheat beer with the clovey banana taste. Has a bitterness I'd describe as "slighty harsh" that really suited the beer overall. My only criticism is that I picked up a slight cardboard taste in it, which I think is caused my oxidation? It's not overly noticable (and I think I'm pretty sensitive to it, as I've picked it up in my brews before), and it's still a very drinkable beer. I don't know the style that well, but I'd say it's pretty on track!

Golden Ale:
The Golden ale poured a hazy bronze colour with a good white head. Had a slight hoppy aroma, but not a lot. Taste wise, this was delicious. Very moderate bitterness and big amarillo flavour that lasted ages. Also picked up a slighty caramel malty taste in it. Very nice :D The girlfriend said this was really nice too. I made a Smurtos golden ale late last year (maybe the 5th brew I ever did?) and it didn't taste neally as good as this. You bottled this from the keg though right?? I noticed a bit of yeast kicking around in the bottle.

Not to worry Pistol! I haven't been two timing you. I have a few bottles of an oatmeal porter which only made it into the bottle yesterday (11/09/10) Which I can post off to you when you've got your brewery back together, but they're in glass, so I might wait until this Irish Red has finished fermenting, and send you some in plastic (I want to keep the glass ones, as they're Little Creatures pint bottles i've collected from buying cartons of the single batches :) ).

I didn't suspect you for a minute :).

When I see how well the above guys give feedback and describe the beers I am totally intimidated! All I will be able to say is either, "Loved it," or, "It needs more salt/pepper or something???" :?

My work schedule at the moment is still crap and I have only, just yesterday, started to ring/deal with etc, the people I need to, to rectify a major problem I have had with some post-fermentation bits I was supplied with. I don't want to explain it here as I am hoping these people will be well-intentioned and do everything they can to fix the problem. Until this is established, it is a waste of time me brewing though I suppose I could bottle!

Once this problem is solved I will be back brewing with a vengeance though I think my beer descriptions will always be pretty crap :),
