      Last week brewed Northern Brewer Dead ringer IPA. post boil was 1.054 at 67degrees and should have been approx 1.064. here is the process.This was my 5th biab ,also did the sixth it come out just fine.
      
      12 lb/ 5.44 kilograms and started with 10 gallon/37 liter of water. strike water temp 165f/75c add grain 162F/67C 90 min mash, temp at 45 min 155F/68C,and stir,90 min temp 152F/67C. Then 90 min boil,remove from heat let cool about 1 hr seal kettle with plastic wrap let cool till morning....

      If anyone did things perfectly right from the get go, then they are an anamoly. Don't get discouraged by people pointing out potential mistakes, we just want to help. Did you stir your mash before measuring temperature? If not, then you may not have lost as much tempertature as you thought. If I go by my kettle thermometer, then I lose 5F in 15 minutes. A quick stir shows that I haven't lost a single degree yet. I also measure with another thermometer to try to verify the results. I wrap my...

   2. 1st and 2nd biab

      Last weekend tapped my first two biab, not to bad the pale was a bit watery but did have to add some make up water and missed the og by about 10 points still tasty.Second one was an Amarillo IPA also very good. used gelatin to clear both look very good, may try and post up a pic if its not all gone. Also last weekend did two more biab with new burners and larger kettles. I could not figure out the calculator thing, oh well, all went fine ,One was a Hefe and one an Irish Red, cooled in...

      That's a lot of numbers Ron! A few you can ignore but there is one really important one you are missing.
      
      'KFL - Kettle to Fermentor Loss' or what I said in point 3 of my post above is the most forgotten number ever. Volume into fermentor without knowing KFL as well, from a number point of view, is almost a waste of time and definitely over-complicates things.
      
      What I am trying to say here is that ingredient wise on a normal brew, volume stops at the end of the boil. Or, wort creation ceases at...

      Do any of you have a recipe for a pale ale or IPA using only New Zeland hops that you would be willing to share? I really want to try these hops just don't know much about them. I brew 19 liter/ 5 gallon batches Thanks See Ya brew often Ron
