      I'm looking for advice putting a recipe together for my next brew, either from scratch or by modifying an existing BIABacus file.
      
      I love big imperial stouts lately, in fact my favourite by far is the BrewDog's Paradox aged in Isle of Arran whisky casks. They don't have a brew sheet up for this at the moment (out of stock I guess) but here is the brew sheet for the same beer aged in a different cask:

      Just wanted to say how I got on with this.
      
      Managed an OG of 1.097 which was not far off at all. I was having a much harder time keeping the mash at temp than previous brews - I wonder whether this was due to the much smaller amount of liquid than what I'm used to, or the higher amount of grain? Anyway, in the heat of the moment, after reading that the 60 or 90 minute mash length might not be overly necessary ( I think I gave up after about 50 minutes compared to the recommended 90. Maybe...

      Not sure whether this is the best place to troubleshoot a recipe - if not please let me know.
      
      My most recent brew was a modified version of the Amarillo Pale Ale - basically I originally brewed this with purely Chinook hops as that's all I had at the time. I liked it so much (but do love Amarillo, and extra hoppy ales) that I decided to double up the hops and bought some Amarillo to do a Chinook/Amarillo Pale Ale.

      Good stuff Scot. As for measuring accurately and repeatability of brews, that is an illusion which I need to write more on. On some home brewing forums you are lead to believe that a brew is repeatable but they are not. Commercial brewers do a lot of blending so as week to week changes are not noticed. Craft breweries have a harder deal as their hop schedule is often their signature. You will notice on the craft brews that every batch is different, some markedly so.

      I came here looking to put together a plan of action for my first BIAB brew. I posted earlier ( ) about my concerns over my kettle size (20L approx), the amount of time my gas hob took to bring this to a boil when I tested it (about 1 hour for 15L of cold tap water!) and the rolling boil not being very fierce (although the water did reach 100 celsius which I assume is all that is required?)

      Just ignore BobBrews above. He is just trying to attract attention and make you feel sorry for him and then get you to PM him and then he gets your email and then he gives you his bank account details and asks you to send him money to pay for a nose operation. Is he genuine? Who nose? Finally tasted this and while going all-grain hasn't *completely* removed the homebrew twang I was trying to get rid of, it is at least 10x better than my can brews :) very happy!

      I've never brewed BIAB before but looking to start. I have been given a stainless steel pot which is about 20L in size (photos for context: )
      
      Firstly, I filled this with 15L cold water (just a guess as to a sensible amount to use) and on our biggest gas ring on the kitchen stove the pot took exactly 1 hour to come to a boil. On top of this, with the makeshift lid removed (tinfoil!) the hob only managed to maintain a gentle boil, not the aggressive type I've seen on BIAB videos on...
