New pics with a better explanation. I had to do allot of research to find a way to hard wire this probe into my freezer so that I didn't have to buy more than I had to. I hope this helps anyone else looking to brew better beer on a budget.
Great ideas. I am looking forward to my next brew because of this new tool at my disposal. I think this is going to be one of the best investments I have made to my brewing process since I started.
Doesn't look ghetto to me Weisse. And you have done great on the technical side because I don't understand any of it  Where are you going to put your probe? Or maybe use a fan to make sure the air mixes? All I did was slip the probe through the back of the door opening. I I haven't thought abo...
I have needed a fermentation chamber for the last two brews. I live in Houston and I am lucky to get my house to 75 in the summer. So I found a chest freezer and truned into a fermentation chamber Freezer - $80 STC -$14 off ebay Wiring and misc. $13 $107 total I knew I did not want to use a ranco or...
Lampy all of you're assumptions are correct. However I did not use a secondary fermentor. So air contamination was not a big deal. I assume your not using a carboy but instead a bucket. If so I would check with others about whether or not pulling the lid off is really a cause for contamination . The...
Success! After applying your suggestions I have managed to convert a "Low Integrity" recipe to match my equipment. My problem was that i didnt understand that the "the original grain bill design " was the LI recipe. Kinda of a "DuH" moment for me  Anyhow I am feeling more confident now with...
So I tried the Biabicus for the first time. To create this recipe I have used the ingredients from a lagunitas clone. Then I used the same measurements and volumes from the last beer I brewed Which was a dead guy clone That mad scientist had all ready brewed. For example I had about 8 pounds of grai...
PP I wanted to take a sec to thank you for the you spent answering some of my questions. I am still trying to learn the Biabicus. As I mentioned in a recent post the noobs like myself need more guys like you who take the time to offer practical suggestions, even if to some they may seem obvious. :id...
Mally thanks for the tip. I don't use my pc much anymore mainly ipad. So I have completely forgot about open office. I will attempt to use this application/software. I guess iOS can't do everything. Thanks for being helpful, I am not against reading and research but my brain can remember everything ...
Rick, I am not sure how to respond to that. But, it's ok because "we" figured out that I don't have the computer power to use Biabicus. I tried using it with MS works/spreadsheet and it would not work. Hopefully some one out there can be of assistance.
After reading the intro for this section of the board, I realize that i am not quite ready to create my own recipe. I have more reading to do. So with that said I am looking for a wheat/IPA recipe. Hopefully someone has a clone of my favorite beer, Lagunitas little sumpin  . If not, any tested...
RESULTS: A: golden reddish color, massive head, lots of lacing S: sweet, floral, esters, slight bubble gum T: malt, bread, M: full body, sticky, O: great beer, this beer was better than dead guy. Additional notes: I dry hopped twice. Also I doubled the Munich and caramel malts, not on purpose though...
Welcome fellow brewer. I am pretty new myself. I am positive that you will find everything you need here. Since my first posts, brewers such as Mad scientist, pistol patch , Mally, and Bob brews have helped me tremendously. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. A couple of things I learned...
Maybe I am alone on this, but one big reason I decided to go with Biab was the minimal cost investment. This product seems functionional but not practical.
PP, Bob thanks for the replies. esp. the podcasts. The brew day went smooth until the end of my boil. I decided to chill immediately after boil since I wasn't prepared to try no chill. I had to change the last hop addition from zero to 15 minutes. The hops were .8 oz of perl. I failed to plan out th...
thanks PP i wish i had asked these qustions sooner. I would have had the grains seperated when i bought them. also I had never considered the No chill method ( really never heard of it) and really dont know allot about it. Could you explain this way to me. I suppose this method works best for this r...
MS brew day is tomorrow. Buy i have few qustions about the recipe. There are a few discrepancies between the downloaded recipe and the one posted here. here are some of my concerns. 1. How can i No-chill without a cube, how will my beer be effected if i do chill after boil? 2. special instruction say ...
Thanks allot, the Biabicus is awesome. I am having trouble understanding the volumes section though. I read Mallys post about this, so let me tell you my thoughts and see if they are correct. The TWN is the amount of water I start with, the Mash volume is the amount in the kettle after I add grain, ...
Ok, I downloaded the Biabicus. Once with your recipe already loaded, the second time I used a blank. I put in my dimensions for the pot using the blank it figured to be 19 liters, not it gets weird maybe you know why? When used the Biabicus with the rouge recipe i plugged in the numbers i changed th...
