      So I made a hop spider today, was super simple/easy and cheep. I had most of he bits already, heres what you need.
      
      - Rope
      - 5 to 4 extractor fan reducer
      - voile hop sock with drawstring
      - short length of syphon tube
      
      step ONE
      drill 4 holes equal distance apart through the narrow part of the reducer.
      step TWO
      take to pieces of rope of equal length thread each end through the holes and tie a knot in the ends.
      
      step THREE
      Take a piece of syphon tube and cut to the same length as the...

      A hop bomb's worth of soggy hops may absorb too much liquid and pull off the bag? So make sure the bag is attached well. Also the moist steam may (Sticky`fie) the hops as they enter the restricted neck and clog. Good luck and keep the brain churning out ideas. (note: most new ideas are in the fourth or fifth version?)

   2. Should I expect to have a higher FG than anticipated?

      I brewed an english bitter from BCS a few weeks ago and its been in the fermenter for 14 days now at a constant 19 - 21 degrees thanks to my new fish tank heater. PP very kindly advised me on how to put the recipe into the BIABacus.
      
      When I mashed In I made a big mistake, the water was 10 degrees too high (79c) :idiot: I realised after about 5 mins so I pulled the bag and let the water cool to 67 and mashed in again. Air lock activity stopped after 7 days.
      
      The FG reading was at 1.016...

      balli , after bottling , might want to let it condition for about 6weeks to let it mellow out a bit.Usually works for me.

   3. Brewferm Mini Keg System

      Hi Yall,
      
      Its my first time using the Brewferm mini kegs and tap so thought I would share my experiences with them, there seems to be allot of conflicting views on the internet. People either love them or hate them.
      
      So far so good. Easy to fill, simply fill them leaving a few cm to spare (bulk primed before hand) and insert rubber bung (super easy!!). I also bottled some beer so I could test conditioning along the way without tapping a mini keg.

      The reads above are well-written and much appreciated mally and balli. Thanks for taking the time :peace:. I don't think we have these here in Ozland yet. There's something about this mini-stuff that keeps nagging me. I think it is in a good way though.

      After hours of contemplation I decided to upgrade from my 15L stove top setup and invested in an electric setup.
      
      49L stock pot (40cm diameter - 39cm depth) with ball tap, thermometer and 2x 2.2kw elements.
      
      So I need all your opinions on false bottoms/lifting the bag off the elements during the mash. Im having trouble finding a suitable stainless cake cooling rack.
      If i were to purchase a cake rack how can I make legs so it sits above the elements? the highest part of the element is...

      Hi im thinking of brewing this recipe but i dont have the hops suggested, just Figgles, EKG and Cascade so was wondering if you guys could suggest a hop schedule? Which would be the best bittering hop of these three? and which would give the best late hop for aroma?

   6. HELP! Have I over primed my bottes? will they explode?

      Hi guys,
      
      I bottled my first BIAB today and batch primed with Dextrose. So I used the BIABacus which said use 2.7g per 500ml bottle (2.5Vol). which I worked out to be 24.3g as my batch size is one UK Gallon (9 bottles) so 9x2.7=24.3g. Ok.
      
      So just out of curiosity I had a look on the northern brewer priming calculator (after I had bottled) and it suggests less than half of that 5.44g. :nup:
      
      Also I only managed 8.5 bottles as I had a little trouble with my syphon.

      Iv been trying to get my head around the BIABacus and have experimented and come up with a recipe. This recipe is suposed to be as simple as possible (will be my second ever brew) with readily available ingredients. I was wondering if you guys could comment on whether Iv understood this properly and will this beer be drinkable? If this is rubbish can anyone suggest a simple IPA recipe I can follow? Also is the BIABacus US or Imperial when it comes to Gallons?

      1. Take FG readings (any gravity readings for that matter) with a grain of salt. Many things occur (eg stratification) that can throw readings off. 1.012 versus 1.015 is not even worth a blink of the eye so don't read anything into it ;).
      
      2. On the auto-efficiency thing, I'd just leave the default as is for now. What this will mean is that you will probably end up with a slightly higher OG than estimated which you can...
