Converted and never going back!

I'm pretty excited and know that you guys will get it. Just over a year ago I was looking at getting into AG brewing but was really daunted with "traditional" 3V brewing due to; cost, the process, time involved, space requirements etc. But then I remembered reading about BIAB. So I discovered this m...

Thanks PP, made perfect sense and feeling a little embarrassed  for asking now. This shows perfectly how you either use it or lose it. I hadn't used the BIABacus in some time and when confronted with a recipe that showed the grain bill in ratios I became confused... happens often. Anyhow, hav...

Hey Contrarian, great write up and sounds like you're off to a flying start. I can't praise the BIABacus enough and all of the work that PP and others have put into making it what it is. You do need to put in a bit of reading and tinkering time but it's all worth it. You might be interested in this ...

After two weeks in primary I split the batch between a bag ;) and bottles at the weekend. Tasted good out of the fermenter, seems very much like an English session beer at 4.6% ABV which I'm v happy with. Will run a pint from the bag at the weekend and let you know the verdict :) Screen Shot 2013-04...

Nice work Guinges, suppose the question is... when are you gonna put some ale in there? I tried pouring from my 'bag' last night and was disappointed with the nozzle/pressure within the bag as there wasn't much of a flow. I think the key is getting a fair amount of carbonation happening inside the b...

Hey nik, I've looked into both the 'Rotokeg' and the 'Keg King' both of which are not sold here and due to their size would be hellish pricey to ship to Oz. We have a trip back to the UK planned for next year so I'm planning to bring a Keg King barrel back. I reckon they'd be pretty good. They're co...

They look good NIK, although from what I've seen they're pretty expensive here. Are thru difficult to clean?

Another thought. You could wash out your polypins with "1 Step", It doesn’t need rinsing and apparently it sanitises as well. I ordered 5lbs of it a few days ago (it’s just become available in Canada again) for my kegs. I think it is going to save me a lot of work. http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtop...

I remember seeing that thread, I think that's why a lot of us are home brewers - to fill in that nostalgic hole. And that's why I love it. I grew up in pubs as my parents ran several around the North West over the years. It wasn't until my wife and I moved abroad that I realised how deep the connect...

Half way through that BrewBagMan. Did you come across advice on how long to ferment before putting real ale into the cask? Would a week in a single stage fermentor do it, or would 10 days be better? Real ale is supposed to be "still alive" in the cask. I found that part very interesting Guinges. I ...

I'd personally save the $$$. Instead spend some time reading the following; http://www.howtobrew.com/ http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=194 Have you downloaded the BIABacus yet? If you measure the internal diameter of your pot and its height, there a section in the BIABacus for you to p...

Guinges, Right after I took the pic I remembered to give them a good squeeze :idiot: When they expand I'll give them a little purge. The experts from the link I posted suggest not letting too much CO2 out, otherwise the beer is super flat. I'm looking forward to a little trial and error. Think I'm g...

BrewBagMan, Thanks for all the great information. Regarding using something like the collapsible water bag in the picture below; do you know how much advantage there would be to hooking up a beer engine to such a bag versus just using the supplied tap that is already on the bag? Specifically I’m wo...
