Hi Brendandrage,

I have a 40l crown urn, concealed element. I have only done 23l batches and have had no trouble at all with the hot break. I have insulated the urn and turn off to mash, that way it's just set and forget with no need to stir etc, I only lose about 1deg in the hour

I Have made this three times now and always a great beer, everyone who has tasted says fantasic, the first two batches just went to quickly its so more ish, I will be cracking one tomorrow night after 10 days in the bottle just to see how it is! You guys have had to many brews! Photo looks fine down here in Aus!. Btw the hook was a left over from my roofing days Happy to report back that all went well with the first brew on the crown urn, it is now no chilling waiting to go into the fermenting fridge tomorrow.
