      right then, lets start from the start.
      
      I've done 3 BIABs so far, the first was literally chuck loads of stuff in a pot and see what happens, mainly just to see how the process worked. all the ingredients were out of date by at least a year but I didn't really care. Amazingly, this turned out to be quite a drinkable stout, initially it was way to bitter but the taste has mellowed loads.
      
      2nd brew was an attempt at the Tawney, that went horribly wrong and landed up down the toilet without going...

      Your extra 2 liters would account for most of the missing OG points.
      
      I guessed as much, I've also been reading that if you have malt extract at the ready it's possible to use that to raise the OG by a few points.
      
      it's fermenting away nicely with a nice thick head of yeast :drink:
