BBh - dont think its a low gravity issue. If i remember rightly my gravities were 1068 down to 1012 (at work at the mo so am half guessing)

I take it there only needs to be a tiny amount of fat to effect the whole batch?

that's what i was hoping. I wasn't at the "FV end" when bottling, our lass was, and so not sure what she was doing with the tube. Everything smelled ok in the FV (i used safbrew WB-06) i think.

I wont be drinking it in any great quantity so........

I'm thinking maybe a bottle of chocolate sauce that you squirt on ice-cream. Chocolatey and sweet but wont ferment.......

Hello I bottled up some raspberry wheat beer last week. I've got some stuff at the top of the neck in some but not all of the bottles. I have a chocolate stout thats been in the FV for a couple of week. I just tried some and it's ok but a bit too bitter. When to add the Crystal?

Hello

I am having a brew day tomorrow. The grain bill is:

Pale Malt 85%
Torrified Wheat 10%
Crystal Malt 5%

Do i mash this lot together for the 90 mins or should i add the crystal, and indeed the wheat, later?
And if so, why?

Raspberry wheat beer. 1045 to 1002

Should it go that low?
I used Safbrew WB-06 pitched at 20C
Pitched on 30.09.12, fruit added 02.10.12 with a reading of 1006. Moved into secondary 07.10.12

Tastes ok, although i dont really like raspberries or wheat beer.

i used this calc http://webspace.webring.com/people/ms/s ... lator.html
to work out how much white sugar i would need to batch prime 10L of wheat beer to a CO2 vol of 3.3.

It came up with a figure of 80g. That seems excessive to me. What do you think?

Ok...here we go! All volumes are approx (as i am not sure how much is absorbed by this type of sparging) My pan is 33 Litre capacity. Plan for a 23 Litre batch. ( i am a greedy sod) Mash 6.2Kg of grain in 32 Litres of water. Remove bag leaving 28 Litres of wort. Remove 1 Litre of wort and set aside....
