Just watched a video on northern brewer in which the technical fella from wyeast advises 45 seconds of vigorous shaking is plenty. He claims you can shake it for 20 mins if you like but it wont improve any. This is on beers up 1060 og so perhaps all the pumps and o2 bottles are overkill.

I built mine with two 1500w kettle elements 10 pound for two kettles. I did tap around the hole with a hammer to flatten it slightly. I will probably beef it up with water heater elements when the kettle ones die but they work fine i start with hot tap water to speed the heating up.

The lager is mainly for the missus im an ale lover myself but its something a bit diferent its like doing my 1st brew all over again.

Cheers it will be lagering in a cornie its about -2c here at the moment is it esential that it lagers at lower than the ferment temp my cellar is a contant 9ish degreees c?

Im sat listening to a german pilsner ( my 1st lager) bubbling away in the celler below me now at 9 degrees c. Just hope the cold weather holds here cos its garage bound for lagering and i have no way of controling temps.
