Buying grains online vs. LHBS - Where to save...

I use to buy in bulk but found a lot was getting wasted especially hops coz I dont brew the same beers often except for my house wheat beer. Since relocating my local hbs has a program on his website. Recipes included. Where you just put in your equipment stats. And the program does the rest. With o...

Aroma hops when no chilling

Yea ive recently been adding flavor hops at flame out and it has reduced my bitterness problem and improved my beers a lot.

Italian spiral Burner

Would the original setup be ok for a single batch in a 71 litre pot? Where did you get your adjustable regulator from? I had my 80 litre pot with a single batch boiling reasonably well, it was on pretty much flat out tho. I think if I adjusted the air intake it would've burnt better as the flame wa...

Italian spiral Burner

I had an original one from beer belly a few years back, stop brewing for a few months then sold the burner to fund a still. Relised I missed brewing beer so brought the new updated burner. Only just kept my boil boiling. Now with my adjustable regulator and playing with the oxygen adjustment its a r...

mash out and efficiency

I work mine out off how many points I should end up with in how many liters into fermenter. I just adjust the scale. Eg. 3 liters trub and 23 liters into fermenter. I think most people would work out there efficiency in there own ways and adjust things as they lay a few brews down and work on there ...

Hey Pat. It says active ingredient sodium percarbonate 346g/kg equivalent to 4% available oxygen. As I said it doesn't have anywhere that it's scented but It has a smell a lot stronger then napisan. The smell doesn't really smell like any particular flavor or fruit. It just stinks lol. Might just be...

Stir During Mash?

Every ingredient that's cooked in a pot says on the packet "stir occasionally" so It's just habit I suppose to do the the same with beer, hence having a taste as well. If I didn't stir I'd be worried I'd be missing out on an important step. No sure why tho. Hidden dough balls maybe? Actually a good r...

Howdy, proud novocastrian here, been using this site through tapatalk. It's awesome to have a biab dedicated forum. I've brewed beer for 6 years now, been AG'ing for about 4. I started put biab for 18 months or so then set up a 3 vessel. I've recently come back to biab as it's a lot less work and a ...
