I seem to always have a hoppy pale on the go as well as a stout of some kind. I've made a Burton Bridge Top Dog stout numerous times and It goes down a treat with friends. The pales that i brew I tend to experiment and find it's hard to go too wrong so rarely stick to the same recipe.

Yeasty - you young man are a star! When my new boiler is made this will be the brew to Christan it I shall take a bottle to the pub and give a taste and colour test and post some pictures back here.

Hi folks,

Not sure of the rules on this forum about posting links to retailers but if you look http://www.dvfuels.co.uk/category.asp?catID=4 you can find 60 ltr barrel for about £6 + postage just add an immersion element and tap and you've got a cheap and big biab boiler.

Thanks for the input gents. Yes it makes sense that a higher sg will reduce hop utilisation so maybe I won't cut back too much. I want to avoid a boil over if poss I've heard that a cold water spray just before works well.

Yeasty you're a star thanks for the help. I am going to tone down the bittering in the recipe which is a bit high but other than that I'm hopeful this will turn out well.
