      Just another NOOB to BIAB. Lot's of Kits though behind me. I don't know if anyone has used these for a No-Chill Cube but they are HDPE but with a large mouth (ease of cleaning concern). I am currently awaiting a follow up email from the company to see if it can handle the temps (100C/220F) of boiling Wort being poored directly into them for overnight cooling. I would think it could handle it due to the fact HDPE is HDPE, I might add that it is thick walled also, very sturdy. It's from a company...

      Earlier in this thread I said....
      I bought extra screw caps to fit them with a air lock. The idea was to use the No Chill containers as a extra fermenter. I still haven't done that! I rarely have more than 3 buckets fermenting at a time. I thought the the cleaning would be difficult but not hard to do infrequent as it would be done.
      
      I brewed and No Chilled a Black IPA on this past St. Paddy's day. The next day (or so) I added the yeast to the N/C cube (now fitted with a air lock)....

      Well, what can I say, it's Christmas in July. I finaly purchased the stuff I needed for a fermentation chamber. My Ranco 2 Stage Pre-wired Temperature Controller has arrived, and I found and purchased the other piece I needed, the Freezer. I was lucky, while hitting all the appliance stores, and ready to head home for the day, I decided to check out Lowes in Burton, MI. USA.       Hey guy's, thanks for the conversation on the fermentation chamber. To answer BBH's question, yes there was a few factors why I bought new. Believe me, $ wise, I wanted used and researched Craigslist and store sales for a month or longer. I found the Craigslist to be too pricy for a 5 yr old with NO Warranty left on them.    4. Straight Sided pot or Keggle?

      Hello Guy's, just a quick question. I am about to do my first All Grain (BIAB Technique). I notice on alot of the recipe's, the examples are mentioning using a Straight Sided Pot. I have a Keggle, I would consider this to be a Straight Sided Vessel. Would you? If not, please explain. THX :idea:

      I think the reason that people distinguish a straight sided pot, is for the ease of taking volume measurement with the likes of a ruler. This is very easy with a straight sided, flat based kettle. Because a keggle tends to have a dished base an a couple of ridges along the side of the keggle, volume calibration is a bit harder and requires a purpose made measure stick or calibrated sight glass.

      Hi everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong arena, I figured it was a good place for this question being that it is about Equipment.
      
      I have just purchased a Brand New Keggle, it's my first. Is there anything I should do to it prior to it's first use other than a general cleaning & sanitization?
      I have read on a few different sites that some people recommend filling it with water and a vinegar mixture (RATIO?) and bringing it to a boil for several minutes.
      What is the consensus on this idea, or...

      Sounds like good advice guy's. Thanks for your help. I will definitely do a test boil like you mentioned Stux and boil the bag and also check for any leaks at that time. I am on a well currently so no concerns of Chlorine, but I'm glad you mentioned that Wizard, I am moving in 2 month's, and that is city water with Chlorine.    6. Burner Options- So Many

      Noob Question for you experienced BIAB'ers. The more I read about the Burner options that are out there and being used by everyone, I am beginning to wonder if my Turkey Fryer Burner is capable enough for doing BIAB Brews in my Keggle (15.5 Gallon). I see talk about Italian, 3 Ring, 4 Ring, High Pressure, etc... Does anyone out there use a Turkey Fryer and a Keggle? If so, do you find it to be adequate for BIAB with a Keggle?

      Thanks for the input Wizard. I feel a bit better about my Turkey fryer now. I will have to take a look and see if it is a High Pressure Reg. or a Standard. I suspect it's a Standard Pressure due to the fact it came with the Turkey Fryer. Cheers :drink:
