   1. FG still falling....problem?

      I've got a Pils fermenting from an AG recipe from BCS that seem to be falling way below where it's supposed to. Is this an actual problem, or is it just attenuating better/more than anticipated?
      
      OG was 1056 (right on the money with the recipe after mashing at 152*F for 90 plus a mash out), I pitched three smack packs of Wyeast pils (two different yeasts, as the shop didn't have enough of either...recipe actually called for 4 packs, pitched at 65*F then cooled in the fermenter to 50*F).       Thank for the input pp. Since I was introducing a bunch of new-to-me things with this brew, I followed the BCS recipe as directly as I could...which included three smack packs for the 5 gallon recipe. I'm sure this could be modified in the future, as I've done with lots of ales, but I try not to mess around with too many variables at once when trying something new, less it all get janky and I've no idea why.
      
      That being said, I had exceptionally active fermentation...probably owing to three...

      The recipe can be found in many places as it is such a well received beer. It was started by one of my acquaintances, Mike McDole.. otherwise known as Tasty He brewed it in honor of his late wife, about 10 or so years ago. The recipe is not BIAB.. but certainly is BIAB'able. If you have Brewing Classic Styles .. it's in there.. Otherwise, you might check at MoreBeer.com and look at their all grain recipes. For most kits, they include all the ingredients as well as amounts. Most of them show...

   3. Belgian Wit - check my recipe please...

      This is a BeerSmith Recipe that looked pretty simple for my first Wit. It's written for 10gallons, but I'll be doing a 5.5gallon. Could some of you please look over the recipe and see if it all makes sense? Did I miss anything...?
      
      Due to poor water where I am, I'll be making my own using the salts I have listed on the sheet. Also, this is my first AG beer with Wheat. Do I need to do anything different in the mashing process? The original recipe doesn't list a step sparge, but I've read that...

      I would also like to thank Rick for his very well explained post. As with Johnaberry I am now using it to scale correctly the recipes from Greg Hughes book, the recipe I am currently looking at (Amarillo sing hop) reckons in the book it makes 23 litres, however Biabacus tells me the VAW is 21.51L, VIF 18.44 and VIP 17.08. That is quite different if you looked at it (and I did first time round) that the recipe would leave you with 23 litres of beer.

   4. Mash and Boil Times, do they need to be changed?

      Hey there,
      
      I'm entering a new recipe for conversion into BIABacus. A strange as it may be, this is the first recipe I've converted that doesn't call for 90 min sparge and 90 min boil. My understanding is that 90/90 is pretty much an unofficial standard for BIAB, for various, well thought out reasons.
      
      My question is this: the recipe is for a Witbier, it calls for 60/60. It's a 11 gallon-ish VAW that I'm converting to a 6 gallon-ish VAW. Should I enter my times in BIABacus as 60/60, or 90/90?...

      Thanks for the private message mate. I felt that after my initial post and further response I was pushing this thread too far away from its original discussion on general boil time considerations, and I was just happy to move on.
      
      I also think I made a mistake in mentioning the BIABacus in this context – which I think was due to my greenness with it. That little field that says boil time , and the sections that @bundy mentioned above (thanks again), are all I need if I want to play...

   5. First BIAB brew - Saison - with questions...

      So, it's been over 100 degrees for the past several days :cry: ...and it's constantly in the 90s otherwise...but I needed to brew. Got some new gear, and one of the taps is running low...it's time.
      
      We started early, about 0700 (probably could've started at 0500 and done a bit better). I got the gear all set up (new single vessel RIMS, electric). Everything went pretty much like clockwork, since I'd put in a lot of time learning BIABacus and used the info to set up a pretty detailed flow sheet...

   6. Where to add sugar ... BIABacus

      So, I'm getting ready to brew a saison, and the recipe calls for table sugar as part of the grain bill. My understanding, as I've not done it, is that the sugar should be added near or at the end of boil so that it dissolves, but can't burn. Yes?
      
      My actual question, though, is do I simply add the table sugar to the grain bill in Biabicus or should it go somewhere else...?

      I'm relatively new to home brewing, but I love it! I've got a few extract recipes done, and they turned out really very nice, but I wanted to do more. So it's on to AG.
      
      Now, I'm new to AG (like, BRAAANDD new) and have been feverishly reading to get myself a bit more ready.
