Pitching Rate of Yeast

Post #1 made 2 years ago
Please could someone check my yeast pitching calculations for a Saison.
Batch Volume 38 Litres
OG = 1.051
Wyeast 3724 Belgian Saison Liquid yeast
Step up Yeast starter 700ml and then 1.4Litre with stir plate.
Using http://www.yeastcalculator.com/ I get it to 360 billion Yeast Cells Which is nearly 4 packets but I'm making a step up yeast starter.

I'm not familiar with the site you use but it gives a similar result to my preferred calculator (http://www.brewunited.com/yeast_calculator.php). The variables I'm unsure of is how old your yeast or your flask size is so you might have to adjust a bit for that. I've attached a screen shot of what I input into the fields and the result. Hope it helps.

Edit: Looks like the screenshot didn't take. Details below:

Total Required Cells based on .75 million cells/ml and a Mfg date of 7 Dec 2021 - 358 billion cells
Flask Size - 2L
Gravity of Starter - 1.037
Volume of Starter - 1L
Grams of DME to achieve gravity - 101

2nd Step:
Gravity of Starter - 1.037
Volume of Starter - 1.5L
Grams of DME to achieve gravity - 150
Total Cells - 420 Billion
Amount to Pitch - 1.5L
