Okay, we are definitely getting much closer now ;).

As mally noticed, your BIAB bag is definitely too coarse. You are in Ozland as am I so maybe shoot me a PM and I'll send you a sample of the material size you should be using.

Next thing is the ID of your hose is 12mm which is pretty much 1/2 inch so that is too big. You really want to go 3/8" (9.5mm) which involves basically using a bit of 1/2" and then shoving the 3/8" hose up that.

...

When you do have the right porosity BIAB bag, you can use that as a hop sock. Basically, after you pull the bag and while the sweet liquor is heating to boiling point, you empty your BIAB bag, run it under the tap to get it clean (it doesn't need to be sterile) and then you use the bag a hop sock by hanging it in the boil.

I'll try and post some pics tomoz to explain more for anyone else reading this, but, and I don't think I've offered this before, I'd be happy to have a chat with you on the phone as well as I think we could get a few things clearer much faster on the phone and I'd like to see your next run go smoothly. So, shoot me a PM.

Rest of the set-up looks great ;),
PP

This is an old pic of mine showing the bag floating lazily as the wort comes to boil.

Sorry for the delayed reply, it was a busy weekend. So I went to my LHBS on Saturday and purchased some 9mm silicone hose (crikey that's $$). The silicone has some give so I can push this over the 1/2 inch fittings on my ball valve. I also checked their selection of grain bags and they only have the 1 type which I already have. However my wife can sew and her friend has a sewing machine and she has agreed to make me a grain bag despite her thinking I'm becoming a beer nerd. PP I'll pm you re details of grain bag material. I like the idea of using my grain bag as a hop sock, much easier to clean as well.
This all grain business is terribly addictive! Still trying to convince my wife it will save money in the long term

Great ;). I think men "honestly" lying to their wives has been going on for quite a while. When my Dad proposed to my Mum, he said, "We'll have two children and go on overseas holidays every three years."

The end result was nine children, and, no overseas holiday until they were in their 40's.
