Hi There! I'm scottish but lived in the USA for 8 years and developed a real taste for hoptastic IPA's. I now live in Sweden where all beer above 3.5% can only be bought in state-run stores that are super expensive (2-3 time the US) and have crap opening hours.

Needless to say, this was the necessary motivator to taking up brewing

I've been doing so for the last year. Started with kits and then moved on to extracts brews. For me BIAB seems the next logical step, but I'm really keen to get my numbers and equipment down before attempting my next brew. Hope I can get some help here...

1. Where are you from? Minneapolis, MN
2. How did you stumble across the site? After moving in with my girlfriend I realized I had limited space to work with, not to mention my beer drinking has gone down a bit so I decided to look into 1 gallon batches and thought I might be able to do them BIAB style.
3. What you think of it so far? It looks like a treasure trove of info, can't wait to dig in!
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? I had for about a year and a half, last 6-8 months I have taken off. Only done 5 gallon extract brews.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I work as tech support for a cloud consulting company

I stopped brewing for a while as I lost all my equipment in a hail storm.

I'm a work-a-holic, I Work as a financial advisor and have shares in a tutoring agency.

I relax I enjoy archey.
SWMBO ha decided I need to get back into brewing so has bought me a 50l stainless pot and an extract kit.
I've bought the rest of the basics to get back into biab after my extract brew.

I'm originally Canadian now living in New York.
I found the site by searching BIAB - amazing what you can do with Google!
Lots of great info on the site - love the small batch section - as that is what I do
I started brewing 3 months ago on a long weekend. Went into a local brew shop and picked up a starter kit. The owner of the shop made up a recipe and provided ingredients for a partial mash. It was an IPA and delicious - blew my friends away at Christmas. I was hooked.
Currently have a Dogfish Head 60 minute all grain clone in secondary, and an all grain bourbon barrel porter and an all grain IPA in primary.
My second brew was a cream ale - came out a bit green but improved in the bottle. My third brew was the Plinian Legacy double IPA kit from Northern Brewer in the U.S. I'm drinking that now.
All my beers have been small batch BIAB.
Currently working.

Hi all, stumbled across this site while looking for info on how to get started with BIAB, and it appears to have a real wealth of knowledge!
I'm from the UK (London originally, now south coast) and only started brewing with a bunch of equipment given to me one Christmas. I have to admit, it sat in my garage for a year before i thought i may as well give it a try. I'm glad i did I'm only 4 brews in using kits (Coopers Cerveza, Milestone Crusader, 2x Wherry) and have only recently come to find out about BIAB. I'm one for little projects (built a basic brewpi setup after 2 kits) so now have started to collect parts to start on an electric biab system.

Hi all,

I enjoy home brewing and try and use the most easy and efficient way of brewing and BIAB has been perfect for me. I currently us an Anvil 7.5 gallon Boil kettle where I do my BIAB and I recently started using a HERMS coil that sits in a 4 gallon ss stock pot that's fitted with a 3500 watt electric heating element. I boil with 2000 watt induction plate. In conjunction with these I also use a plug and play auber PID controller to control mash temps and 1 small solar pump that's attached to the Anvils ball valve. I've always done biab and figured I could implement the ease of use in my current electric method. Since my foot print is small i normally do split a recipe but mash with more grain and tip up to 5 gallons. I have had a problem with efficiency doing it that way and have had problems with getting the correct numbers with no sparge . Any advice? I would also like to know if the biabacus would fit for my current system. Thanks!!
