Hi all,

Neil here, from Johannesburg, South Africa. I found this site using Google. I've been brewing (extract and speciality grains, partial mash) on and off for about 20 years.

I've been wanting to go full grain and do some experimental brewing with small batches for a while and this looks like the way to do it. The site seems full of interesting info.

I'm also interested in making an electr(on)ic BIAB setup - I work in the IT field (Linux and some embedded stuff using Android), and another of my hobbies is electronics.

Cheers!

Hello! I live in the USA, more specifically southeast Michigan. I found this site well researching all grain brewing methods. So far I am quite pleased with all the information available on the site. The site has also been easy to navigate. I have not tried to search for a specific item. I have been brewing extract/steeping grains for several years. During the past few years I have improved fermentation control. I am now set on taking my brewing to another level. I am convinced BIAB is the best all grain method for me. I am looking forward to learning more about the process and brewing my first batch. Thank you for making this site available.

Hello everyone. I'm very glad to have found and joined this community!

I'm Nate from Silver Spring, MD (USA).

I came across this site while researching BIAB, which I'm very excited to try out as it seems to be what I'm looking for. I am interested in doing smaller batches so that I can brew more often and really want to get away from using extract.

I have brewed 3 batches over the span of a year. All them were extract recipes with small bags of specialty grains. I love IPAs and that is mostly what I have brewed and want to brew in the future.

I will soon be working as an RN and currently work as a CNA in a hospital. Prior to working at a hospital I worked for a government contractor for 7 years.

Hi everyone. I posted in this thread, but I don't see it.

I'm Nate from Silver Spring, Maryland.

I've been brewing for a year, using extract. I came across this forum while researching BIAB which I am interested in trying. Hope to be brewing a batch soon, and thinking of doing smaller batches to brew more often (to gain experience). I love IPAs and want to brew that style.

I work in a hospital and in 2 weeks will be finished nursing school. Nursing is a second career for me. I'm also interested in playing/recording music, woodworking, and lots of other hobbies.

Howdy folks,

I'm Chad from Toronto, Canada. I have been extract brewing for a few years now but its time to go more advanced as i love many styles of beer and this seems like an ideal way to flavour beer to my liking. I was researching beer stuff on home-brew talk forum and someone mention this forum so i rushed over to register and start learning and brewing!!!! Cheers folks.

Three3Beer and fun chuck,

Welcome! Be ready to be amazed! Brewing with BIAB is as easy as falling off a log. After a brew or two it will be hard to get on the log in the first place?

Hi all, I'm Steve, just returning to brewing after a long break
The game has moved on since then, and BIAB seems to have so many positives I've decided to get set up and give it a shot
Got my mash vessel today and have the FV and keg etc already, along with a gas burner......just need some bits and bobs to get going
Getting the hang of what looks to be a very useful site too, will be back with questions etc before long, and hope to post news about how I get on

Edit/ Apologies, forgot to add some detail  Based in NW England, like spending time on 2 wheels and ride a blood red Italian V twin when the sun shines
Preferred brews are full bodied bitters along the lines of ESB, London Pride etc along with heavily hopped APA's both of which I'm looking to have a crack at when I get started on BIAB

Cheers!
Steve

desmosteve,

It's nice to have you on board. Brewing is a loving and forgiving mistress. It's hard to screw up (but we all do). Let the good times roll!

desmosteve,

Welcome! The game may be a bit different with BIAB over what you remember, but the underlying processes are still the same.

If you do some ESB's etc., I'd love to see your recipes in the recipes section.

Hello,
My name is Trevor and I am from Paris, Ontario, Canada. I came across this site looking up info on how to set up Beersmith for small BIAB batches. In the past I've brewed 5 and 10 gallon AG using a cooler mash tun. It's been about 3 years since I brewed last......right around the time I had my first kid. I have 2 reasons for wanting to go BIAB. My free time is limited and setting up my AG equipment and brewing is time consuming. It was an all day event for me. I also want to brew 1-2 gallon batches and I feel BIAB is a better method for that for me. I've really gotten into sampling different varieties of beer and the thought of having to go through 5 gallons of the same beer isn't appealing anymore.

I do have one question and I don't know if this is the appropriate place. If not just a nudge in the right direction would be good. How would you set up equipment in beersmith for a 1 gallon BIAB?

I'm enjoying the site so far and I'm only starting.
Thanks
Trevor

Trevor,

Welcome to the site! I do 2.5-gallon stovetop BIAB, so I definitely know that your smaller batches are possible and, yes, this allows me to have a few different beers on hand. I don't use Beersmith, but I believe that there are BIAB settings and that you can adjust the volumes to match yours. Others at biabrewer.info have used it and might be able to help.

Instead, though, I'd recommend trying the BIABacus. Try grabbing the blank version of BIABacus PR1.3I here. Post to that same thread with any questions you have.
