Hi,

I'm from Quebec, Canada and I found this site because a friend told me to read about the BIAB method and this site was the first interesting site from my google search.

My friend told me it was a good method (not too expensive) to start brewing.

I never brewed before but I helped this friend a few times, he is using a traditional all-grain method.

So far I think this site will be very helpful for me.

Right now I'm at the university finishing my CPA.

:salute: :salute: :salute:

ZoneTrooper,

Your friend is right.
My friend told me it was a good method (not too expensive) to start brewing.
BIAB is perfect for anyone who wants to learn to home-brew. The best part is that once you learn to brew all grain with BIAB you don't need to learn anything else. You only need to refine your techniques. So learn BIAB and then teach it to your friend to save him time and work. 3V brewers resist changing to BIAB because none of us want to admit that we screwed up. I can attest to that! I changed from 3V years ago because it is just so simple. The beer comes out the same. So why do 3V????

Hi Guys

I'm from Newport , around the corner from Grain &Grape. I have got a group of guys together
to get into brewing our own beer. We have already attempted our first brew using extract ans steeping grain. It's meant to be a pale ale but looks like we cooked up the extract a bit to long even though we followed the recipe . So it's a bit darker than we expected , but what the heck it still turned out to be a really nice drop.

Anyway we had always intended to go down the path of all grain brewing and were introduced to BIAB at Grain & Grape. This web site is great and I have not been able to stop reading it.

Congratulations to the guys wh set it all up it is a great resource .

We are looking at trying our hand this weekend on Dr Smurto's Golden Ale.

Cheers

Oliver12,
as i can get my hands on a big enough pot.
We are looking forward to see how your journey turns out? Just advertise on the internet that you want to buy a lot of pot! I am sure that you will be contacted by a lot of interesting people (and law enforcement officers) I use a beer keg that I converted from holding "yellow, fizzy water". I have saved it from depravity by converting it! Halleluiah!

Hello all,
My name is Ed and I am from Pennsylvania, U.S.A.. I have been brewing since Christmas when I received a MR. BEER kit from my wife and boys. Did a few extracts, but quickly moved to the BIAB method after reading about it on the Mr. Beer community. It was from the forum there that I found my way here. I just did my 10th BIAB, a blonde ale, and am looking to gain more knowledge and find proven recipes that may be to my liking or a starting place for experimentation. Have a great day.

Hi all

I'm Jools from Kent UK.

I've been brewing kits on and off for several years, all the time toying with the idea of all grain brewing but the expense of setting up tended to put me off. Then I found this site and discovered the BIAB method. So, I've taken the plunge and bought a 40 litre boiler  .

Time to get those books I bought years back, blow the dust off and have a go at some of the recipes.

Cheers

Jools

Hello
I live in Mt Maunganui, New Zealand and came across this site googling biab.
Been brewing since 2010, but using biab for about 6 months. I have had some good successes with biab, although my most recent one is a dunkelweizen that has just about finished in the fermenter. I have tried it and usually you can have some idea on how it will turn out. This one seems kind of bland, still early days I guess.
Usually I do a single step biab, but this one a did a protein rest and a mash out.
Finally I work as a computer developer.
Cheers

Wow, two new brewers from Ottawa. One from Canada and one from the USA! Welcome all! BIAB is growing in leaps and bounds. No wonder your jumping in. Low cost and with minimal equipment. The only thing large is the great taste of the beer. Traverse this site and you will find all your questions answered and more. If you are stuck find a likely category and ask you new friends!

Hi!

I´m from germany and a homebrewer for about 6 years now. Moving to some smaller rooms forced me to "downgrade" my 3 vessel brewingsystem to a BIAB. Havent done a batch yet, looking for some more information on this board which i cant get in german homebrewing community (not a popular system in germany). For the moment im going to do 10 liter batches to have more variaty on the tap :) Back with my old system it was about 25L.

Welcome aboard Aries :peace:,

There's quite a few of us here who used to three vessel but now only BIAB. I think you have lots of advantages and no disadvantages to look forward to . Just ask any questions if you get stuck on anything.

Hi. I've been brewing extract kits for about year and read an article on BIAB - decided to try it. Name is Jack I live in south central Tennessee.

This board has been very helpful, but struggling now with calculators to try my first batch

1. Where are you from? Manitowoc, WI (USA)
2. How did you stumble across the site? I was looking for info on water quantities for BIAB and stumbled across this site over on HomeBrewTalk
3. What you think of it so far? WHEW! I'm glad I have the day off!
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? Yes, about 2 years worth of extract
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? Work is overrated! But, unfortunately, there are bills to pay (and beer to brew) so yes, I work. I'm a truck driver

I spent a few years with the US Army in the late 1980's, stationed just outside of Frankfurt, Germany, and learned to appreciate good beer (as opposed to the 'equine urine' mass produced here in the US). When I returned Stateside (mind you, the craft brew industry was in its' infancy) there really weren't many options for GOOD beer available to me - at least here in Wisconsin. There was Sprecher (brewed in Milwaukee, WI) which never really impressed me and there was a local 'Gasthaus' that one could buy imported (sometimes skunky  ) beer from so I decided to try my hand at making my own. With Charlie Papazian's book in hand, I was off! And it was pretty awful! :argh:

But, life intruded, and I hung up my kettle...

About 2 years ago (mind you, the craft brew industry had really taken off by then) I found myself drinking copious quantities of (and spending a LOT of money on) New Glarus Brewery beer. Wandering around my basement one day, I stumbled over all of my old brewing gear and thought WHY NOT!?! I acquired a Blichmann Burner, resurrected my old 6gal aluminum stock pot, bought a 'Better Beer' kit, and I was off! In the quest for better beer, I picked up a 10gal Blichmann Boilermaker, late last year, so I could move to 'full boil' beers. THEN I stumbled across BIAB Brewing and realized I could make better beer (more control over ingredients) without the expense of building a 3 vessel system...and best of all, I already have most everything I need! SCORE!

So, here I am, really looking forward to trying my first BIAB (and the BIABacus) too!

Hello BIAB world!

May88 here from Suffolk, England.

Linked to this site due to an uptake of Maxi-BIAB on my regular forum Brewuk
First lurked back in Jan and now have the time to look at this new AG method.
The biab site has its own style and I sense a lot of effort goes to making things clear.
I've been brewing for about a year. 2xkits then pretty much extract brews based on own recipies using a non-boil method (steep grains, hop tea and boil the hops in water separately add to FV and then whisk in the DME). This is a quick low energy method.
I work! :p

I have a 19 L pot on order which I hope my Gas cooker can get a rolling boil so I can continue to make 23 L batches.
I've been aiming to make various styles of beer and only once follow another recipe. So I take care rather than use skill.
Some of my simpler brews are stunning (Wheatbeer with Haller... was one of the best and the easiest beer to make (in the world))
My more complex ones take an age to come good and then only just. I'm hoping AG solves this.
I also want the freedom the Mash gives you and the cost savings. Okay, now I have a 90 minute wait and a 90 minute boil to add (may look to certail these but need to walk before I run).
