DarrelLd, a 5 gallon kettle can make a 2.5 gallon Full BIAB.

A 16 gallon Kettle can make a maximum of 8 Gallons with Full Voulume BIAB, and is great for any Gravity Full BIAB at 5.50 Gallons!

If you can do a Maxi-BIAB brew you should be able to do 10 gallons!!

The False bottom is really good to keep the bag off the Hot bottom of tha kettle, and can be removed for the Boil.

Hi DarrellD,

That's the pot I have.

Get it! You won't look back. I think you can make a full volume 10 gal providing the OG isn't too high. I just made an 8% ABV 10 gallon AG brew and I put 2 gallons of water, heated up to mashout temp in a smaller pot and dunk-sparged the bag in there (after pulling it from the mash in the big pot) and then added that wort to the boil. I don't think I lost any efficiency. That was a Maxi-BIAB.

Only hesitation was when I bought it that it wasn't advertised as being "induction ready" (very few kettles are) and I was thinking of using induction heat at the time. However a magnet does stick to the bottom, so It might work ok. If you find out anything on that would you let me know.

Thanks for the quick replies, I have pulled the trigger on the pot and got a Blichmann Floor burner and the leg extensions. GR where did you get your bags or did you make them?

Yay! you have the same pot as me. We have a club started. Mind you, one or two people on here might not talk to you now.

Custom made bag $25 from here. Took them 24 hours to make it and get it in the mail.

ps MS says he can brew a 10 gal batch in his 15.5 Gal kettle, but says an OG of 1.065 is about the limit. That's pretty good I think: http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php ... =25#p29199

Guinges, I agree, Jimmy's bags are well made. I just got one to fit my small rectangular mash tun. My wife will be making the rest of them.. She did an awesome job on the one for my 10 Blichman Boilermaker.. Which I can also use in my turkey fryer pots.

Heck you two aka 'da club, I'm not proud.. I'll talk to you both

 Thanks Bill,

It’s been a long winter up here. The bloody snow won’t go. The Australians have probably had an unbearably hot summer, and it just won’t cool down. In the UK it’s been pi##ing with rain for as long as they can remember now. People are often DRUNK on here. Not me ;) Just had one drink so far (= 1 pint 8% beer. It’s good stuff, might have another). Oh well I suppose it is a beer site after all. Not much point brewing it to look at. :yum:

If using with a propane burner, be sure to throw a piece of sheet metal between the burner and kettle (heat shield) to protect the valve and thermo from heat wash from the burner.

MS, Very discerning question. I didn’t know the answer so I just had a go at taking it apart. That’s as far as I could go, in the picture, but I didn’t have the instructions, so I can’t say for sure. The reason that I could take it apart is that I had replaced it and I have another valve that I had and preferred (see picture 2) from here on the pot. I just took the pictures and the pot is sitting there with Saturday’s brew fermenting inside it and the lid gently burping. Not many people ferment in the brew kettle, but I just can’t stop doing it. Takes all sorts

Also MS the pot actually arrived with a very nice stainless steel heat shield in the box, to protect the tap. I’ll try to take a picture of it and post.

Hello DarrellD, fellow pot club member. How do you like your pot? I got a second one today. I ferment in the kettle and I was getting behind, what with my extended family and all, and their drinking habits.

It’s the oddest thing but I couldn’t find one, the other place was out of stock. I was getting a bit distressed and my wife googled and found one for me on a metal detecting, gold panning site... of all places! It was the best price I have seen in Canada with free shipping too. I ordered one, even though I thought it might be a joke, and it actually arrived today: http://www.canadiantreasureseekers.com/ ... ail&p=1455. I think it might be a ploy to get BIAB brewers interested in panning for gold. Does anyone here pan for gold? should I go fot it?

ps. I also baught a Blichman burner last week so I can get out of the kitchen, now the weather has improved
